Thank you to those of you who said such sweet things about my blogging. I REALLY appreciate your sentiments. I LOVE that someone, even one person is heartened by what I have to say. Because, often, I have to say very hard things- things about diet, sexual activity, lifestyle, things that I wish I didn't have to say. Things that make people cry. I have to say these things because I know that ultimately, those people will be the better for me having said them. But, my heart is sometimes heavy when I deliver a message that I know a person is not ready to hear.

I was speaking to a patient today and we were discussing what kept her strong during the early stages of treatment. Many people do well, super well, right away in treatment, while others struggle for months to acheive what feels like progress. This patient told me that somehow through the internet she was connected to a very very old patient of mine. This woman had gotten well, and herself went back to school to study homeopathy because her life was transformed by alternative medicine.

Treating IC has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. It has also been one of my greater pleasures. Watching people go from unhealthy to healthy is an amazing experience. It is also a huge lesson in psychology. We were required to take a year of psychology in school, during our master's level, but, I have to say that it was grossly inadequate. What I have learned in the last 12 years of practice could not be taught in school, or, if it could it would have taken much longer than a year to learn.

Bowel movements are fundamental to our health of course. When I began practicing, I used to ask people if they were constipated. Most of the time people would say, "no, never!" Well, I quickly learned to stop asking questions in that way because most people do not know the meaning of that word. I soon began to realize that most people answering my question were only going once per week. I actually had a patient this week tell me that her  gastroenterologist told her, an MD, that going once per week is totally fine! That just is incredulous to me.

LAst year one of my patient's sons spilled mercury in her home, just a little and they had to get a professional clean up crew to come and get it all up and it was such a big deal. Knowing what I do about mercury filling I understood, but it still seemed amazing to me somehow that such a little thing could be so toxic--well, like so many other things that we are not aware of. In our clinic we use flourescent lighting because it is envirnmentally better bc it uses less enerfy and emits less heat. But, I never worried about a lightbulb breaking. So it is really good that I just read this.

The arBeauty not only emanates from the beauty of your heart and soul, it also is an expression of the health of your internal organs. Interestingly, watching people go through this process, people have reported many negative changes in their appearance during the time in which their health began to fail. Skin tone, color, and general appearance can change significantly in either direction depending on the internal environment. Curley hair can even go straight and vice versa.

This is an interesting article on Candida. I am not suggesting at all the treatment that is indicated in this writing, but, it is an interesting article in its content.

In trying to make the change from a more common way of life to a more holisitc way of life, one has to examine all aspects of their healthcare choices. Dentistry is another area that is extremely important in this shift in thinking. Diet and healthcare management (what medications you take for example) may affect you tremendously! In search of more alternative dentists in this area, I was referred to a dentist recently. I was doing research on him and found the following information from his website. This is an incredibly interesting page, please read it!

Birth control pills, and hormonal treatments in general can be quite problematic to good health. This is an interesting article regarding how else things that are not "in sync" with the natural balance of you body may effect you:
