The Difference Between Normal and Common

I had an interesting conversation the other day where someone asked me why so many people eat so horribly and seem to do fine with it. But, "do they?" I asked. The general population eats horribly and the general population also suffers from being overweight, allergies, high cholesterol, poor energy, arthritis, painful menstrual cycles, depression, headaches, and the list of other common ailments goes on.

Since these conditions are so prevalent, people consider them to be a normal part of life. But, are they? I think they are not. And, let's look further down the road. When people age it is also common to get cancer, stroke, heart attack, and other terminal diseases of the aging. Is this normal? We consider it to be a normal process of aging. But, is it?

Hormone Problems

Often in treatment, especially with newcomers, there is worry that their condition is a hormone problem.

There is no doubt that the pain is in synch with hormonal fluctuations. But, this is not due to a hormone problem, but rather, the condition of the IC responding to those hormonal ebbs and flows.

"Sugar Free"

.....is a trap that people fall into easily and often. "Sugar Free" is code for either toxic chemicals to sweeten, like splenda, or other poor quality "natural" sweeteners like malitol or xylitol-plant based sugar alcohol that is not

It can cause you intestinal pain, bloating, and gas and hence bladder symptoms and allergic/immune responses such as classical allergies (food and airborne) or asthma.

If you want to enjoy sweets naturally, get sweets sweetened with ingredients such as fruit, fruit juice, agave, maple syrup-these are among the best.

This is an AMAZING documentary

....that touches on so many subjects. Do not miss one word!

New Products

I found some new products for those of you a little further down the line-probably around list 3 or further:

Jane Carter Solutions shampoo and conditioner-these are so moisturizing for your hair that you dont even need a gel or creme to use to blow dry or straighten your hair. And, I imagine if your hair is curly it will work really nicely as well. She has a sculpting solution that is also very nice, but, I dont think you will even need it. IT has a lot more essential oils in it, so this would be more list #4 or more.

John Masters styling gel. This is light and the ingredients are really nice.

Meat Again

The subject of anti-red meat is another one that keeps coming up. I just heard from a patient that I converted from vegetarianism who is doing well in treatment after a long run and recently found a book called The Vegetarian Myth. She said she felt like so much in that book applied to her and her illness and she felt that it would be very relevant to other ICers. I have not read the book myself, but, I am sure this must be a good recommendation coming from this patient.

Red meat is very important in the treatment of IC and many other chronic health disorders. Not eating red meat may inhibit treatment from being effective.

Detoxing

The subject of detoxification is a common conversation. I have had many conversations it seems this week regarding this subject and would like to take the opportunity to reiterate a few of my opinions. And, they are opinions.
