Constipation!!!

I am freaking out as I have not had a bm in 5 days (well, maybe very small ones). I know what caused it for me (adding in mega). It is the weirdest thing, like my bowels just shut down. I am really trying not to freak out. Adding Bifido is not really helping. I pray we can find a better combo. I have not had a lot of big issues with BMs since I started treatment, and have had to use magnesium a lot during treatment but even that is not helping now. Just venting.

I find Dr.B's soup very helpful for times like these. I just posted the recipe I use on another post recently.
I also take a couple T's of olive oil before going to bed. Also drink a few mugfuls of very warm water upon awakening. I hope you find relief soon!

Oh Mimi: I have such empathy for this! I recall sessions like this and personally think it's the worst! It;s also been my main complaint through the years with IBSc.

I was amazed when, after consistently having Dr M's "poop soup" twice a day, the problem improved and steadily disappeared. I still watch it, and increase  the soup, or at least ground cabbage, steamed at first sign.....Also amazing because before into this treatment I couldn't even sniff cabbage w/o bloating and gas and pain...

I think I recall you are aware of this, but wonder if you know the daily consistent  ingestion is necessary... Be Gone , Constipation!!!!!!

Hi Mimi,

I had a similar constipation issue happen to me when I added the probios back in a few months ago.  I was eating a lot of "poop soup" and was still not seeing any action.  Dr. M recommended eating cashews at the end of a meal, and it really worked!  I'm now hopelessly addicted to cashews - but I poop every day like clockwork!

Claire that is CRAZY, but since I am hopelessly addicted to cahews already I may as well try it! I wonder why at the end of a meal?

Claire if you are reading still, did DR. B allow magnesium? I am using magnesium but it is causeing burning in my bum so I really, really want to cut back on it

Claire, also did she say WHY we are having this issue when adding back probiotics??

I did the magnesium every other day - and it totally burned my bum but it did get things moving a little at least.  The real shift happened with the cashews, and she also kept me on one ZGL per dose, which made from some quite loose #2s and alleviated the need for mag.  However, I was dealing with a really nasty infection and was on a really heavy duty cleansing protocol.  (still am, but that's another story...)

Re: why does the constipation happen: when I first had this happen was when she first put me on bifido (which seems like eeons ago now!) and she explained that basically there was so much movement in my system that it was like a traffic jam at rush hour in my gut.  All this stuff is trying to move at the same time and as a result it gets stuffed up.  IDK if it makes total sense to me, but I feel for you!  Please know you're not alone.  xoxo

Oh, and I think Matia had me eat them at the end of the meal because we weren't sure if I would tolerate them.  If you're good with them, I'd say eat em whenever you want!

My other little piece of anecdotal evidence about cashews having a laxative affect was that my mother (miss poop regularity champion) was eating cashew butter every morning to try and put on some weight, but instead she was having crazy diahrrea...once she stopped the cashews, her bms returned to normal...
