Dufour Puff Pastry is very versitile. KIDS love it. You can fill it with lots of healthy things. You can make the following recipe in a mini form as an appetizer for a party or for a snack. We may have this only once every 2 months or so. I rarely use Dufour, but it is a good product and is approved by Dr. B if i recall correctly (as is Filo if you tolerate wheat). I used ground chicken and also sauteed the ground chicken with more of the salt and seasonings (I used small amounts of cinnamon, cumin and coriander) that are used in the sweet potato mixture...you can see that you could fill these with pot-pie ingredients such as chicken, onions and carrots (as in, a chick pot pie filling with a little less liquid) OR a ground beef/potato-cubed or mashed with garlic and smoked paprika for list 2/3 and up-yum that is my next challenge. You can also make your own whole wheat puff pastry by hand which I have read is easy but time consuming. http://kendraskitchenmusings.blogspot.com/2010/10/chicken-sweet-potato-p...

Mimi, thanks for this info, I didn't know we could have store bought pastry? I can tolerate wheat, is the filo pastry by dufour too, I have not heard of dufour, I will have to look out for it? I'm on list 3 and allowed to try veggies in list 4. :)

Hi C. If you are not sure, ask Dr. Brizman. The only ingredients are flour and butter. It rises not because of yeast, but because of the style of pastry. Remember that a LOT of store bought pastry has yeast and other things. Also, it is white flour which is why it would be a rare treat,  but it is unbleached.

Someone once recommended store bough Spelt Pretzels. Yes, they are spelt BUT they contained YEAST! I have read of people making similar mistakes. I have to read labels 3 times before I am sure of things! :)

C You read my mind! Are you on list 5? if so, is a plain croissant allowed??? (It should be, because low sugar regular bread is allowed.

I sent this link to Dr. B in my first year of treatment LOL. Getting ahead of myself. so I think she is ok with some of these products (Obviously not ones with regular sugar or coconut). http://www.stirsthesoul.com/order.htm So IF it were me I would do like the French. I would open my plain croissant, and put a piece of the Stirs the Soul Chocolate (I like mine not melted). Also the French eat baguette and chocolate. If you are list 5 and have a list 5 chocolate that would work. Also I would use list 5-approved Wax Orchard chocolate sauce. From the fridge it is thick and you could spread it on a plain croissant?

Mimi, I'm on list 3 allowed to try veggies from list 4 and allowed 1-2 homemade sweet treats a week, I love wax orchards fudge sauce!! And I buy Sunspire grain sweetend choc chips, ( sometimes I melt them down and add rice cereal and make a kind of chocolate bar,  I will save that link for when I can have more yummy things it looks really good, Just saw the first thing has bananas-OMG I also want bananas so much- Banana and chocolate chip cake would be lovely.... right after the croissant! haha

I have to make my own bread every week not sure if I could have anything with even the tinest bit of yeast in it yet. But I would love a baguette, too! All these things to look forward to :)

It is amazing how different we are. I am on list 3 and tolerate all the list 4 veggies and I have eaten some of the fruits because foods usually don't bother my bladder. It is the bloating (yeast) that gives me pause and keeps me from moving to list 4. Would not even dream of having homemade treates at this point, but honestly don't miss them.
