Melaleuca

I went to an informative meeting tonight on this "Green Product" called Melaleuca. Has anyone heard of it?  Tried it? They told me that 7th Generation was just bought out by Clorox!!!  I thought about trying their cleaning and laundry products...only thing holding me back is they said that their "anti fungal" oil which they call Melaleuca oil is in all their products.  Obviously under our circumstances this concerned me.  As far as the cleaning products I use gloves...not sure though about the laundry soap.  Any of you have any input on this at all?  thank you.

I'm not sure Alanna. First time I ever heard of it was tonight. A friend of mine uses ot and they say their products are so pure they don't even require a child safety cap. Of course that still doesn't mean they are approved for us.

It is tea trea oil which yes we need to avoid. If I use something like 7th Generation, I just use gloves. Always and forever. Otherwise microfiber cloths and water are usually fine in a lot of situations.

Children should avoid Tea Tree Oil and Lavender as now they are linked to early puberty

Thanks sooo much Mimi. There are so many things that seem harmless yet not.

I spoke to dr. brizman briefly about the lavender/tea tree issue. She is less concerned (regarding children) about something that is a small amount in a soap that will be washed off). More like the topical natural anti lice sprays, etc...

I've been making my own products for over three years and I will never go back to store bought. For laundry deterget use:

1 cup washing soda

1 cup borax

1 bar Zote or Fells Naptha soap (grated)

1/2 cup Oxy clean or similar product

1/2 cup backing soda

a few drops of an essential oil like tea tree or lavender

Mix all together and use a heaping tablespoon per load. I love it!
