ICAMA, the Interstitial Cystitis Alternative Medical Association is very excited to announce that it has started a new support group. The goal of this group is to offer support for those in the ICAMA treatment and to offer outreach support for those wanting to learn ways of supporting their chosen treatment with nutritional and product use information. This group will be available for local people and with technology what it is, we are going to try and make it available for our long distance patients and interested people!

Yesterday, one of my patients emailed and asked me a question about another patient who had told her about hormone therapy for Interstitial Cystitis. She said she had been doing much better since she had received it. While in some cases, hormones may make a difference in your symptoms, and even I once thought that in some cases hormone therapy was a must, my experience has been that hormones simply cycle problems back eventually, create other problems of imbalance that lead to more complicated conditions, and put the patient at a much higher risk for very serious diseases such as cancer.

If you are reaching this site for the first time I want to welcome you to a place where hope through an alternative viewpoint on life and health may be introduced to you for the first time.

Alterntaive medicine had been around for far longer than the traditional medicine we practice today. It is just that, it was not cosidered alternative before. It has become alternative as the various kinds of natural medicine have been placed aside and traditional medicine as we know it today has taken front stage.

I am reminded on a daily basis, but, especially this week how difficult it is to understand what is going on with one's body when going through a health condition of any sort, but particularly with something so challenging as IC.

All of you in treatment know that I do not advocate the use of soy in the diet. Soy can insight a tremendous amount of pain. There is more to the soy story when it comes to IC, but ths article is a great one that gives some insight as to why soy is not what it might be cracked up to be for all people:

14 mths ago I made the trip to LA from the UK. I’d suffered from numerous UTI’s over the last 20 years and developed symptoms known as IC about 2 years ago.

I was in constant pain and tied to the bathroom.  I rejected investigative procedures from urologists and decided to embark on Matia’s program.
