This article is filled with lots of great recommendations that I agree with-a few tidbits do not apply to those with IC, but, the bulk of it is widely applicable and much of what I recommend. I think this is a great read on not only aging, but, just overall wellness. And, if you are a patient and understand my philosophy, it gives a lot of support to some of the fundamental causative factors of IC. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mercola/if-you-want-to-age-gracef_b_700...

With IC I have found that eating a diet that includes red meat and vegetables and limits, and also starches, but, in limited amounts. Over the years I have seen various diets contribute to the culmination of IC and inhibit people in their struggle with IC. As many of you know, I will not accept new patients if they are not eating red meat. This is not out of judgement at all, it is only because I have seen vegan and vegetarian diets and even diets that only include fish or poultry prevent people from responding to the ICAMA protocol.

Many of you are not ready for raw milk, so don't read this article and start drinking it. Raw milk is wonderful when introduced at the right time. And, as illustrated in this article, it can cause some digestive upset, and in those having IC alot more than that. However, when introduced at the right time, it can be wonderful bc of all of the wonderful nutrients it contains that have not been destroyed by pasteurization. Give this article a read, it is sweet.

Finally! An article full of wonderful information on the topic of the health risks of drinking alkaline water. Dr. Mercola is saying literally what I have been saying for years. I am so thrilled to find this article I cannot tell you. Please read this if you read nothing else! Water is a huge issue for health and an even more important issue for those of you having chronic illness, especially IC. And, drinking over alkaline water will make you more sick as will drinking water from many filtered systems. This is why I advocate many bottled spring waters.

In my dissertation there is a theory of "compensation" that I discuss where the body produces more fluids (in many forms) to protect the body from the damages that have occurred over time. Cholesterol is one example of such fluids and is a reason why many people with chronic problems have high cholesterol. And, I argue that often it is this dynamic that elevates cholesterol rather than a bad diet. I just found this page, which, discusses this concept from a different point of view-I stumbled upon it this morning. It shows a few books with authors who appear to have like-minded opinions.

I always recommend sea salt and not table salt for these reasons. I have not compared himilayan sea salt to other sources of sea salt, but, this article is a great one on the issue of table salt vs. sea salt.http://products.mercola.com/himalayan-salt/

Many of you know that I recommend not using standard hair dye products due to toxins in these products, and alternatively I recommend the ones in the health food stores. I have used many of them for years as have many of my patients over time-all with great results. I have not observed any negative effects from these products. However, recently I have had a situation with one patient who also had used a particular color of Naturtint and then changed to a different color and it seemed to have made her unwell.

I think I have posted on this subject more than most people want to read on it, but, this is yet again-a really nice article coming from another point of view. This is the great thing about research-there is always another view:) But, really, read this! It is short, but to the point, offering some really nice insight. http://www.economist.com/node/16740669

Please be careful to not take probiotics differently than how I have explained. For example, if I have asked you to combine them with a formula or away from a formula, this is really important in terms of not activating your pain levels. An easy mistake-very common, and it just happened again todayis buying powder instead of caps. If the form changed, the effects can change. This is true of everything!
