Forums:
when i am super anxious/stressed (which is pretty much all the time lately), i tend to go to town on the carb snacks (which in my case are basically rice cakes and potato chips). but, if i find myself eating 2 or 3 rice cakes in a sitting or downing half a bag of chips, i try to balance it out by eating a protein within half hour of that splurge (usually, i will just scramble some egg whites cause that is fastest to make on the fly). now, is that soon enough to balance out the carbs i've ingested, or does the protein have to be eaten WITH the carb in order to balance out? anyone know?
I'm not sure, but
I'm not sure, but Matia's mentioned before that if sitting down to a meal, have a bite or two of protein first to prepare the digestive system & esp to more effectively handle the carb portion's insulin effect (I'm not 100% if this reasoning is exactly right, ppl can correct me).... so that may give you some clue that carbs first, esp 30 min ahead, might not be the best thing.
But my guess would be if it's between eating protein 30 min after a carb snack vs. no protein at all, having the protein 30 min after is still preferrable.... but having it with it is probably a lot better.
carbs
I have now been taken off all carbs, but before I would do the same thing as you and I asked on a call and she said to have Protein while eating it. I would always want to do it at night before bed. She told me its just best to only eat protein for the snack. Like a hard boiled egg. I know that is not the comfort snack I was craving though, but it is best.
