Hi All:
I am on List 2 and venturing into List 3. I have not been able to tolerate bif yet but when I stick to List 2 I have pain free or low pain days. Not so when I increased my vitamin D from 1200 mg to 3000 mg. I am suppsoed to be trying List 3 foods but it is going very slowly. I can handle most of the veggies (not string beans yet and tomato cooked only), blueberries, some additional mild cheese. Have not tried milk baked in things yet or nuts. Dr. B told me to try raspberries and blackberries after blueberries. I ate 8 raspberries this am. It gave me burning. I am in my 7th month. My tissue is obviously still quite sensitive and I am struggling to beleive that it is going to heal. Wise thoughts appreciated. Bonnie
I can remember being where
I can remember being where you are and being so afraid to try new foods. At around 7 months in I do know it got easier to try new things but I still had trouble. Now I am 16 months in and I am doing very well. I am able to eat most foods with no problems. I have had my fair share of cheats too when it comes to wine, and I know it has set me back some, but I keep pluggin' along and at this point I know I am no where even close to where I once was. You will get there, just have patience and trust in the process!
Bonnie- not sure if this will
Bonnie- not sure if this will make you feel better ir worse but I thouht I'd be trucking through the lists and it has been the opposite. I am very very slow to add new foods. I am 16 month in and just barely into list 3. I have (STILL!!!) a very difficult time telling if something is bugging me. It sounds like you have pretty clear reactions which stinks but also makes it easier to tell what is bothering you. It is amazing that you have low or no pain on list 2! You will get to the next stages,. I don't want to scare you but I also want you to know thta you are certainly far from alone. If changes have been happening al along gradually, try to remind yourself that they will continue! Also wanted to add that I have NEVER once cheated so I can't blame it on that!!
Christine- good to "see" you!
i would take it slowly
I am about to enter my third year of treatment and think my eagerness to rush through the lists negatively impacted me. I think you're doing the right thing- taking time to gauge your body's reactions to certain foods. I am currently on 3-4, and have finally gotten the hang of really judging what i can tolerate and what I can't. Butttttttt, that being said, you will progress. I am now tolerating all sorts of things I thought i would never be able to taste again (lemon!!!!! isn't it amazing how complex fruit can taste??) You'll get there- just take it slowly as you're doing and have faith.
Just as an FYI- I post my cooking IC cooking chronicles on berrylocal.com. These arent' explicitly IC friendly, since I try to appeal to a broader audience, but I always use spelt flour, etc and my ingredients are pretty basic.
