Ear piercing infected

Hey ladies,

This is going to blow you away. My daughter had her ears pierced a few  months ago and today I noticed that her left one is very red and infected in the back, and there's a blood blister looking thing in there. I took her to a pediatrician thinking they would lance it and give me advice on how to clean and care for it but all they wanted to do was a 10 day course of antibiotics!!!! Doesn't this seem a little over kill or is it just me?

so for all of you naturopathic mommas I'd love some advice on how to care for it. She's 6 1/2 months old. I've already taken the earring out and cleaned the site with warm water.

Tea tree oil is a natural anti bacterial, but pure essential oil straight on the skin is probably too harsh / even though i've done it and i'm ok with it (you can get organic tea tree oil, soak cotton bud in the oil and apply to front and back of ear). A milder version would be tea tree oil cream. Antibiotics definitely not needed, i have 'recovered' from infected ear piercing using tea tree oil. Hope it helps!
