IC and pregnancy

Dear all,

For many of us (myself included), IC seemed to come on around the time of pregnancy/childbirth/postpartum/breastfeeding. Do you feel that the IC made a (negative) difference to pregnancy/labour/breastfeeding and beyond? The mainstream literature says that IC does not seem to affect childbearing, and Matia has said that IC is characterised by a kind of low level imbalance/inflammation that is not masurable on standard tests. Indeed, we often report how all our standard medical tests are normal. It seems strange though that an illness of this level of severity would not somehow affect the childbearing process (be it pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, the general postpartum period, child development, etc.). What do you think?

Hi Vin. I know that progesterone and oestrogen ratios affect yeast. I also know that they can promote problems with the menstrual cycle and affect fertility levels. High levels progesterone produce yeast and thrush and high oestrogen promotes Inflammation. But it's all about the ratio rather than the level itself these can contribute to the ic. I believe this is why pregnancy makes some people better (combined with a lower immune system for the autoimmune element) or worse. My candida has left me without a menstrual cycle at 29! So I can't be very fertile and it's messed up my hormones so I think it's a vicious cycle.
