Hey loves
Reaching out bc I don't k ow where else...

I have had bouts of intestinal lower back pain and constipation that get so bad that I am crying. Only when I have a bm does it go away and it lasts for hours. Its like Im birthing a child!! This happens every few months but I am wondering if anyone else has this as well. I looked up the symptoms and they are all consistent with ulcerative colitis...I know that we don't go by diagnosis labels here but just to let you guys know how I am feeling.
Those who have had massive gastrointestinal issues as well, what is your experience? ?
I have blood mucus coming out and i am not sure if from straining or what ? Very scared !!!

Sorry for tmi !!!!

Hi Pixie, I have had all of your symptoms at one time or another. What works for me is to make sure my veggies are cooked. If I am in a bad way, I will make Dr.B's soup which is some celery, onion, broccoli, and cabbage all chopped with water to cover and a little
bit of olive oil and spices you can tolerate. Cook
covered about 20 minutes til veggies are limp and blend with a hand blender. I usually have this with some cooked fish flaked on top or a cooked egg and a couple T's of
olive oil. I don't know why but it soothes things down for me. Sometimes I will have it three meals in a row changing up the protein and carb. I can't tolerate any of the list 1 carbs, so I have navy beans or red lentils. I hope you get some relief soon. I know how painful this is. Love and hugs to you!

Mrs. A ,
Thank you for your message!  I SO apprecaite it because I have felt pretty alone in all of this!!
I am cooking up the soup right now :)
Have you ever gotten tested for your intestinal issues to see exactly what the "diagnosis" would be? What did Dr.B say about them??

Googling is the scariest thing ever and it's currently scaring me to pieces. I went to the doctor months ago when I had another stomach attack that was similar and they just wanted to give me abx , said I would get sepsis if I didn't take them...Dr.B just gave me herbal abx and I have been fine since.  I have been taking the herbal abx since then as well, so theres no way it could be a bacterial issue right? If I am already taking herbal abx?

Have you ever felt a rock in your tummy as well, above your belly button? All of a sudden it feels like when I eat, the food gets stuck there and I feel like I need to burp it up or something...
Gosh I hope Dr.B can help me fix this whole mess.  I feel like a crazy person all of a sudden- thank you for bearing with me through this and for your support!
Hugs!!

Hi Pixie! So sorry you are having a rough time. I am right there with you crying and hoping it will end soon! Mrs. A has great advice and I do the same soup with veggies I can tolerate and try to eat gentle foods. I have had colonoscopy and didn't really show much, but a stool test showed significant inflammation in my gut and yeast overgrowth, but nothing that surprised Dr. M, so what I'm getting at don't spend your money on something that won't really matter in the end. Sending hugs and letting you know you aren't alone in the terrible gut renching pain! It's not easy to be in pain day in day out, but we will eventually be pain free.

Hi Sweetie. so sorry to here about your pain. A few times a year, around my period, when I have a BM, it feels like labor pain. Luckily it is VERY brief. I have had two natural childbirths, so I know what labor feels like, and let me tell you I get what you are saying, the cramping I had during the bm was horrific. I had laproscopy in my 30s because I was slow to get pregnant. They found endometriosis on my large intestine, if I recall correctly. Endo tissue can grow anywhere and can be very painful during mestruation. Are you noticing if it is worse during your period, during certain times of the month?

I am sure the inflammation will calm down. When things feel stuck there, do you think a chiro adjustment or some kind of manipulation where the ileoceacle valve used to be would help? I know that has been an issue for you and wondering if there is something that could be done there? xoxo

Have you been tested for Hpylori?

Hi Pixie, I sure hope the soup helped you as it does me. I have never been diagnosed by a doctor concerning my intestinal problems, but I came to Dr. B with all of them, and honestly they were as bad as the IC. She has helped me navigate through all of this as I keep learning what my body can and cannot handle to reduce the inflammation. It all takes time and patient perseverance for sure. But I am doing so much better than I was when I first came to her. I can tolerate chicken soup now, and I am working presently on tolerating yogurt to also help heal my gut. I am on list four. I still can't tolerate nightshades or grains, but I am seeing progress with navy beans, lentils, butternut squash, and beets as my carbs. I know it can be scary to read things on the internet, but the way I have been doing it is to join The Specific Carbohydrate Facebook group and just glean from them. I am not following that diet, but I am learning about certain carbs that I have been able to eat which I think has helped my gut to heal. I will learn something, ask Dr. B, and then go forward if she says to. I am researching a lot to help myself get better. I hope this helps some!

Deir, all through treatment it has been so erie, yet reassuring to hear that others have had these weird symptoms. I makes me feel less crazy. And it makes me realize how many symptoms people have in isolation and just live with. I lived with this odd symptom for years and just got on with my life, never questioning it. It makes me wonder how many other people just live with odd symptoms which are a whisper of things to come. Case in point: my friend has had a mild gallbladder attack, and many months later now feels out of breath in the evenings. These are signs she could heed but probably wont. She may lose her gallbladder because of it.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

That's funny you both say this. I too used to get sharp stabbing pains in my rectum while having a BM, but only during my period. Those pains have long gone now. I also used to have loads of pains from my gallbladder. I was sure I was gloing to have to get mine removed because my mom and both my sisters had theirs removed. Luckily once I started treatment the symptoms went away.

Christine that is great it resolved for you. I still get the cramps but not very often-not every month. Never had any gall bladder symptoms! But I know my gall bladder is not working very well.

Ladies thank you so much for your support.  I have taken awhile to write back because I am still emotionally and physically picking myself back up.

Mrs. A, the soup has helped tons!  It really has caused a lessening in the poking and stabbing colon pains in the front.  You did mean that you take steamed veggies and put them in blender right? It is almost like baby food ( which I actually find yummy lol).  Have you found that this makes it harder for you to have a BM since it is all watery? I have had small ones since then only , and I know I need to go more, and go daily...
Also , did Dr.B approve you for those higher lists?  I really should ask her about that as I eat rice pasta still since I have been slow on the lists on my own accord and have barely reached list 3. Rice cakes are very hard on my intestine and have caused me pain but rice pasta was okay in the end I think.  If I could eat beets and butternut squash however, I would be much better, but I am not sure if that would be too much sugar??

Twentytwenty, I was tested for h.pylori years ago, and it was negative.....but I have been taking herbal abx for basically months now so Dr.B does not think that it is a bacteria, virus, or parasite issue that just came up.
She thinks that it may be from adding new supplements that I could not handle because I do have part of my colon out.
This issue with what we call my "Stomach attacks" , and are basically that horrid lower back pain until I have a BM, have happened every once in awhile.  I have noticed that if I eat alot of raw food it happens, and usually yes, Mimi, it does happen around my period!!! Not this time though , which is confusing....
They also happen sometimes when I am trying a new supplement that is really detoxing me and it is too much to handle I guess.
I do have a couple of inches from my small intestine taken out ( my ileocecal valve is not there, which is pretty important), and Dr.B says that due to this she does not want to push me like she pushes everyone else.
She's also said before that she does feel that I am getting better, and will get better, despite me not having a couple of inches of my colon...this is something that I have to put my faith in.
The crazy thing about all of this is that I have been pretty functional despite all of this- more like predictable bladder pain throughout treatment. and many times int he middle where I felt pain free....but in this past 6 months I have had more painful issues come up with bladder and bowels. I feel like it is happening as we unravel my issues throughout tx??
Does anyone else have any experience with that?

Again, thanks for your kind posts. You all are amazing.

Hi Pixie, I am sooo glad the soup was helpful to you! I just cook the veggies in the water and then blend it right in the pot with a stick blender. The soup actually helped me with constipation issues. Yes, Dr. B approved my move to the higher list veggies. I always check with her before I try anything new. I am kind of nervous to try anything without her okaying it first. I hope you can unravel some of your issues soon. And I hope this week is a good week for you. :)
