Hello Ladies, Have you made your own toothpaste before? If so, what do you use? I have seen baking soda mixtures with different essential oils that look like good recipes. The ingredients in my favorite toothpaste changed and now it contains sorbitol and all kinds of junk.

Thanks, Katie

I know this sounds yucky but Matia posted a blog from a dentist that recommended using soap. Yep soap. i used ivory soap and still do sometimes cause it really makes my mouth clean and fresh. He said it cleans as well if not better than most toothpastes. LOL..Never know what will help, the simple and the cheap do as well as the expensive and the complicated..

Hey- are you sure they didn't mean tooth soap? I did buy that and it does actually taste like soap so probably no differnce whether it is Ivory soap or "tooth soap" I know natural dentists believe the silica in most toothpasts is an issue , i think it prevent actual cleanign of the teeth because it creates a slick surface (don't quote me)

If you look at the Orawellness site (a big website devoted to holistic oral health) they are big on the brush and the technique which is actually to wiggle and loosen the bactera at the gum line. This is where all of the bacteria live and where all the problems start. Brushing technique seems key. They have a great demo on their site

Occurred to me that it might actually be the glycerin that is the issue
