what is common vs what's normal/healthy

Forums:

Hi, all. Firstly, this is the first time I've posted in a long time on the forum and am so happy to see all thte activity on here. This site, forum, and the success stories are the reason I chose this path to healing. It seems so cool to be an active part of it now during treatment and makes me smile thinking that someday, down the road, someone who's looking for help might read one of my old posts or even my success story and be encouraged (I'm not there yet....just daydreaming!)

Anyway, I had my appt w/ Boaz last week and we had a really interesting conversation. I've had some major hormonal ups and downs during treatments and since my IC hit two years ago...major weight loss, loss of cycles, return of cycles but irregular, hairloss, extremely low estrogen levels, etc. I'll be 40 in November and my doctor and other people keep saying it's normal for estrogen levels to drop during perimenopause. I've wondered how much low estrogen has contributed to my VV

OK. I'm sorry but i can't finish this right now.....more later!

Hi everyone . I'm sorry I wasn't able to finish my earlier message.
So I was asking Boaz how much he thinks my VV is due to just "normal"  lowered estrogen because I'm almost 40. His response was this, and it makes so much sense but is something I hadn't thought about. I told him that my OB/Gyn said it's "Common" for women my age to start to have lower estrogen levels which can effect the health of our reproductive organs. Boaz pointed out, though, that what is common or happens frequently isn't necessarily healthy. He went into this more by noting that many unhealthy behaviors and symptoms /problems are "common" in today's day and age because so many people are unbalanced due to poor diet, toxic chemicals, misuse of medicines, etc. in ither words, unhealthy and unbalanced has become the norm for so many people. He said that while I may have a hormonal problem now because of my other imbalances, as my body heals and becomes more balanced , those symptoms will subside.

I remember at my first appointment in LA... I told him I 'd always had frequency and just considered this my "normal". He assured me that it's not. "Normal" or healthy and can be changed. Our conversation last week was an expansion of that idea...it reminded me of how hard it is to try to eat well and live a healthy lifestyle when we're surrounded by people who think it's  "Normal" to drink or smoke daily, eat pricessed foods, and take countless pharmaceuticals.....but that it is possible. Having this group sure makes it seem less isolating .

Yes Boaz and I talked about this often when he was treating my daughter. Examples of numerous things we endure are common but not normal. Also, the word genetic gets thrown around alot. While it is true we may have certain things in our genetic history, that does not mean we have to succumb to these things. I try to educate my friends about this too when they are open to it. Adding to the list:
Varacose veins
"Stomach Aches" in children
Allergies
Asthma
Blood sugar dysregulation
Heart disease
Cancer
Acne,Roscasea, excema, psoriasis
Cold hands and feet
Joint Pain
The list could go on!

along these same lines, I would add that I would often get frustrated that most of my friends are so "well" and I am not. But Boaz pointed out that there is a difference between symptom supression, and true wellness. Many people appear "well" until you find out they use NSAIDs, have digestive issue, food allergies, sleep problems, skin problems, etc...etc....For example, my friend seems "well" yet she takes birth control for heavy/painful periods for 20 years, she uses an asthma inhaler, and takes medications for vaginal yeast infections, and antibiotics for UTIs and has many colds every year. That is not wellness.
