Where to eat while in California for first appointment?

Does anyone have any food recommendations while in Los Angeles?  I am not going until July, but would like to try and plan ahead.  Also, what do you do at restaurants for water?  I'm looking for a hotel also....something not outrageously expensive, but also not a dump....any recommendations would be very much appreciated!

Cheapest hotels seem to be closest to the airport. I would just bring a bottle of spring water in my purse to a restaurant. There is a Whole Foods near their office that has some safe choices to eat.

Thanks, Christine!  I remember a post you commented on, and you said you've been out of treatment for about 8 months...how long were you in treatment?  What were your symptoms - how long before you noticed them getting better?

I was in treatment for a little over 3.5 years. My symptoms were frequency, urgency, heavy feeling bladder. It felt like I had a pipe cleaner stuck up my urethra. Low back ache, anxiety, and insomnia. All got so much better after the first year. I remember telling Dr. B that if this was as good as it got I could live this way and she assured me it would get even better. I was never bed ridden but I was bad enough in the beginning that I felt like I could not live the rest of my life like this, which is a scary thought!  Gradually over the next few years my bladder just got better and better and I went longer and longer with out even feeling it. Today I may get some awareness that I even have a bladder but that doesn't happen very often and if it does it only lasts an hr. or so. Good luck, you are in good hands.

It's hard to say. I was never very bad after starting the diet. I think that alone helped with the frequency. I guess it took about 6-8 months to really start to feel like I had made progress. It was very slow, you have to monitor how you feel over the months, not days.

I would feel so much better if the 24/7 urgency went away!  I hate feeling like I have to pee ALL the time!  Also, what water do you drink on the plane?

Once inside the airport past check in, you can buy water, you can usually find Fiji.

I have been to L.A. twice to see Dr. Brizman.  Both times I bought my hotel from Priceline.  The first time, I purchased it by naming my own price.  I bid $130.00 and got the Intercontinental. (Jan 2014)  It was great and in a good location.  It was overlooking the Fox movie lot and it was about a 10 minute simple drive down the road to the Brizmans. The second time, I did an express bid for $150 and got the Hyatt Century City.  It is just a block up the road from the Intercontinental and was also good. (Nov 2014) Again, it was a 10 minute easy drive to the Brizman's office.  This is relevant as  LA difficult to navigate and the route from these hotels is easy.  If you use priceline or hot wire, these hotels are in the Beverly Hills or Century City area.  They are on Avenue of the Stars.  Right beside the Hyatt is the Westfield Mall which you can walk to for dinner.  It is a short taxi drive from the Intercontinental.  The mall has a number of restaurants.  You can get a steak with potatos at Gulfstream.  Ask them to do it plain.  There is a burger place next door to Gulfstream called The Counter that is upscale for burgers but cheaper than Gulfstream.  I believe their burgers are %100 beef and they are good.  (The way you order them seemed laborious.  You are given a clip board and you have to check off the ingredients you want in your hamburger). There is also a Fat Burger in that mall.  I totally recommend staying in this area. If you want to stay at the airport, the Rennaisance (sp?) has nice rooms but the restaurant is expensive. You can get Fiji water near the gate at LAX.  I have found that Fiji water has been the best for my bladder.  I believe you can order Spring water at the restaurants above. Good Luck with your trip!  You have made a great decision.  Remember slow and steady wins the race!
