This is a great article about the side effects of the birth control pill http://kellybroganmd.com/snippet/oral-contraceptives/ and it is only the tip of the iceberg. My dissertation is filled with information correlating the use of the Pill and other hormonal contraceptives with IC and other chronic inflammatory disorders.

Syndromes involving direct change to GALT through its affect on mucosal tissue or microbiological balance:

For now--coffee should be organic french roast-made with your spring water. When ready you could add a little milk or creme. Later as you get better getting coffee out is doable. Recently, I have been trying to take this subject to the next level-as coffee is said to have mycotoxins in it. So there is the whole thing with Bulletproof coffee-but the problem is is is combined with oils that are cocnut based which would make this intolerable for anyone with IC. But, I do not know if all coffees are alike mycotoxin wise. I think they are not.

Stunning new research delineating a direct pathway from the Lymphatic System to the Brain. This makes so much sense in so many ways. Read the article-its pretty remarkable: http://neurosciencenews.com/lymphatic-system-brain-neurobiology-2080/

Someone asked me to blog on the topic of estrogen and IC. When I wrote my doctoral dissertation. In my earlier years of my practice, I beleived that using bio-identical hormones-especifically a certain type of estrogen was very important to the balancing of the ecology in the vagina and it would therefore optimize the microbial balance. From my dissertation:

This is not IC-but everything related to health is relevant as it is the cumulative effect of what we put into our bodies that adds up to IC. This letter is in from someone I met the other day who has chosen to become involved in preserving the choice we have as parent regarding what we allow to be put in the bodies of our children-a fundamental right!

Last week I was speaking with a few people about renovation in their homes. I have posted a few times over the years regarding this subject. It is REALLY important, when painting, carpeting, putting down hardwood floors, etc... to be sure that the materials you are using are "clean" and "Green"!

The subject of headaches, migraines, and occular migraines (and muscle and joint pains) came up a lot today in my conversations with people. This was tied in to the differences people are discerning between the relationship between their diets and health and incidence of these kinds of problems. This is really a much larger issue than I will problably be able to fully explore within the context of this short blog. However, I often use the analogy that certain symptoms are just a different branch off of the same tree trunk. As in same etiology different symptom.

I love dogs. As most of you probably know, I love all animals-I have 15, Y'up 15. BUT....It happens, animals like people are not all friendly. I just had a patient call this am from the emergency room having been severely bitten with deep wounds not knowing what to do.

Someone sent me this article and I thought it was incredibly interesting. The article discusses the differences in the appearances of the brains of those having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and those without. In that sense it IS very interesting. However, what I find more interesting, as someone who has never doubted that CFS is anything but "REAL" is that different types of medicine have different types of views on the causes and condition of CFS. I am not surprised that the brain does look different but I dont think that the brain is CAUSING the CFS.
