April's Support Group

The next support group meeting will be on the 4th of April at a new location. A friend has
extended his office to us at no cost out of the kindness of his heart. He has a conference
room and sophisticated equipment which should work much better for us.

I am so very grateful to him. His company is Matchcraft, in West Los Angeles, California.
He is a wonderful human being and I am sure the good will come back his way!

This month's meeting will be at 5:00 Pacific this month. Sorry for the change, but, I
met a mother yesterday whos son is very sick. She could only bring him in on Saturday
and I did not want to let her down.

Please check in next week for dial in info. I plan on going over to that office to get everything
set up.

I would like to know your thoughts on when we are well what kinds of places should we look for when eating out. I mean everything seems to have sugar in it just reading lables it is all over the place. I wonder if sauces and such would be come an issue. I used to love to have Thai food and I know I could make these versions at home but I thought maybe you could talk about maybe your own personal choices. DO you bring your own dressing? Do you still alter the menu I know LA has a lot of organic dinning but some places it's still new. Even with organic it's chock full of sugar often. I was delighted to see my local organic delivery offering Agave raw guluten free apple cookies made with rice flour. I thought it's about time maybe we are turning a corner.

When a person eats out after they have gone through this treatment successfully, they can simply order off the menu without being fearful of all the added ingredients, even if there is sugar a little in the sauce etc... I just recommend not drinking alcohol or desserts that are made with processed sugar or sugar subs, or fungal kinds of foods like mushrooms or blue cheese. those are the basic rules. Or for example ordering fish and chips that was beer battered, but if you had fish and chips that was fried and they added a bit or sugar that would not be harmful. But, if you started ordering dessert each time you went out, then that might be a problem. However, learning how to eat sweets safely, that is a ton of fun and very doable!

will try my best to make that happen

Would it be possible to talk about how to deal with set backs during treatment.  These past couple of weeks after doing so well and then experiencing an increase in some symptoms have been quite scary.  You hear and read about the setbacks and expect that this will happen but when it does it is difficult.

Can we talk about what are the most important product/environmental things to "go natural" with or avoid, for both IC and general health?  There are sooo many things (i.e. aluminum in deodorant, heating in microwaves, mercury in fish, salon fumes, etc.)... and likely we're not going to cut everything out... so how to get some handle on the most important ones?  Thanks!
