Matia - will this specific probiotic that Dr. Mercola is talking about help us IC patients?  I don't recall ever trying this strain.

I don't undersderstand why we are all only on Natrens I have always felt it is too limitied. I would love to hear your thoughts Matia.

I use mostly Natren probiotics bc over the last 12 years I have noticed increasingly that use less strains that are better quality (meaning how they are processed) equal better treatment. This is a long an involved subject, but that is the nuts and bolts of it. I just get really good results with this mode of treatment. And, more strains can be confusing to the body and how those atrains are processed, as well as how an herb is processed can alter its efficasy.

I don't know, Dr Mercola really makes it sound like this strain--lactobacillus sprirogenes (probably spelling this wrong) is the best b/c it survives the acid in your stomach and is eaily absorbed in the gut.  he made it sound like this strain is really able to build up a stronghold in the intestines.  I too am wondering if such a strain would push us forward as patients?  It would be wonderful to have a probiotic that can be kept at room temp as well, for traveling

it wasn't the strain that made it survive the stomach acid it is the entercoating that makes it survive. But I hear ya. I have tried sevral other probiotics when I went on my own with my healing path. I was not sure if I was tolerating them or not because of all my hormonal symptoms. I can see how the two strains will still benifit but I feel that the road may be a longer path. I don't have the experience that Matia does of corse so it makes it hard to say.

Matia;  Natren's is a good brand, I'm sure, but what about that specific one that Dr. Mercola talks about that most all his patients have done well on?  Do you have any experience with that particular one, and would that be a good strain to try on us IC patients?

I have tried it and have had problems with it. Again, I am not posting things to create a situation in which people are questioning what they are doing. And, if you want to try these things, you should feel free because your body is your body. I have you each on protocols that I feel are best for you. I have had major success with the NAtren line. I only use things that i  have had major success with. I have each of your best interests in mind. Why would I not use something I thought would help more? That would be ridiculous. Please trust that I have over a decade of experience in IC, and 20 years of study in natural medicine to back up my thinking process and have all of your best interests at heart.

Matia;  No one is questioning your expertise or judgment.  I was just curious to know whether you had any experience with this strain since I had never heard of it before, and Dr. Mercola made it sound like one that is well tolerated.  There is no doubt that you have everyone's best interest at heart.

the hard part is understanding how there are so many things that are so great, but may be not so great when it comes to a particular illness. With IC there are a lot of special rules. This is all I was trying to convey.
