You can buy it in the stores. And, it tastes wonderful!

There is a new ice-cream. At least, new to me. I have said to many of my friends, "someone just needs to make a milk based agave sweetened ice cream and they will have a great business." And, here it is!. It comes in lots of flavors-well several.

wow it's too bad it's not sold in many stores. Its all over CA but not on the other coast at all. shipping outside CA is $80. I mean holy cow that is way too much for ice cream maybe by the time i can have it  they will have branched out more.

I am sure they will branch out. A lot of things start here. What I have done for many years is make my own ice cream with organic milk and agave and I add in whatever flavors I want. Sometimes the fruit sweetened chocolate, sometimes fruit, etc...I bought my ice cream make from William Sonoma.

Really, thank you for keeping us informed of this stuff!   It gives us something sweet to look forward to + how lucky are we to live in a time where premade healthy foods like this not just exist but are really growing in demand?!

I know you suggest agave in moderation (once people are better of course), but there appears to be some debate on whether agave is so healthy -or even any healthier than fructose syrup- What is your take? (see below)
And curious why are honey (a whole food, occurs naturally) or stevia (an herb w/ no sugar & less calories for lesser amount used) not better?

-  Agave is not a whole food - it's fractionated and processed (highly refined!!), boiled down to concentrate the sugars, missing many nutrients the original plant had.
-  Agave raises blood sugar like any other sugar.
-  Agave is only "low glycemic" because of the unusual high concentration of fructose (90%) compared with glucose (10%).  Yes it doesn't raise blood glucose but it raises blood fructose which is even worse.
- Nowhere in nature does this high fructose-glucose ratio occur. One of the next closest foods is high fructose corn syrup, which only contains 55% fructose.  Even though fructose is low on the glycemic index, there are many problems associated with fructose consumption in such high concentrations as found in concentrated sweeteners, including...... it promotes disease more readily than glucose b/c fructose must be metabolized by the liver; isolated fructose has no enzymes/vitamins/minerals and may rob the body of these nutrients in order to assimilate itself; it reduces the sensitivity of insulin receptors thus contributing maybe to diabetic conditions; it increases uric and lactic acid; it leads to mineral losses esp iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc; it may cause accelerated aging through oxidative damage; it raises triglyercides thus is more fattening.

ON every subject there is a lot of debate. Soy is the same. My experience with agave is that I have not noted any backsliding in symptoms with people eating it when they introduce it at the right time.And if they eat it in moderation. It is not the only good sweetener, it is just my favorite-BECAUSE I have not noted any physiological changes as a consequence of it.There are programs for alcoholics and substance abusers that have their in home participants eat only what they provide and they specifically use agave for this same reason. Research does not always provide all aspects of a situation.

This sounds great.  If it doesn't affect blood sugar levels and is not addictive, then why can't we eat it when we are still in the cleansing stages?

What about for general health, is agave the best sweetener choice?   Should we be worried about the high fructose issue?

I read the same thing as Lisa about the Agave raising blood sugar.  I read more than one article stating that depending on how much you use and whether you use the dark or light, it can raise your blood sugar 20 to 30 points.  Are we allowed to eat this ice cream?  I wonder if eating it will make a person crave sweets?
