The power of the mind

Treatment for any chronic illness is challenging, perhaps the treatment for IC is particularly so. It is really important to remember the power of the mind.

There are countless studies to substantiate the effect the mind has on the body. I am reading a book now titled In Search Of The Soul. In this book, the author refers to a study conducted on a group of people on which the TB test was injected under the skin of one arm and a placebo on the other. The only catch was that the people were told that the injection sites were the opposites of what they actually were. Interestingly, the reactions to the TB test injections occurred on the arm that the patients THOUGHT it was on, NOT the arm that it was actually injected in.

This is only one example of how the mind may effect physiological response.

So, please, remember to fill your mind and heart with positive and happy thoughts for your own well-being, whatever road you choose!

you may enjoy a book by Dr. Caroline Leaf entitled Who Switched Off My Brain as well.  It is a fascinating look at how thoughts medically affect the body down to the cellular level, and how they affect certain organs.  It's not lengthy, and very interesting.icnot4me

Regarding the power of the mind -- I once read about people with mutiple personality disorders. In one of the personalities, the person was very healthy, then when he/she swtiched into another personality the body was sick. I can't remember the exact disease but it was something chronic, and something that could be diagnostic through a blood test - like a cancer which is evident in a blood count. So when the patient turned into a different personality -- the sick one, a blood test was performed which diagnosed cancer. Then when the patient became the original personatly i.e out of the sick body, another blood test was done and the results were healthy - no cancer. Makes one ponder...A great book to read on body/mind is Louise Hayes. She has affirmations one should say to help the mind heal the body.
