hello ic family,
my two yr old has another ear infection. she had one in nov. 2011, jan. 2012, and now again. i know that having ear infections are common and normal, but is it normal to have this many within short period of time. first off, i hope i made the right decision. i decided to stop amoxicillan after 3 doses (total of 15 ml) and took her in to see dr. b. sophia's on herbs and now i'm a bit scared and nervous. i was online this morning reading about stopping amoxicillan too early, they said it causes "super bugs." bugs which require heavier dose of antibiotics. now, i'm STRESSED OUT because i don't know if i've harmed her. I'm starting to feel like i should of just given her the full 10 days and then take her in to see dr. b. i don't know if i made a good decision. i'm so traumatized by i.c. that i'm so against antibiotics! I'm feeling a bit down....didn't know that being a parent can be this stressful. it's true what my mom said....as soon as you conceive, the worries begin and it never stops.

Junie- I didn't knkow yo uwere in LA! I am jealous. I would take my kids there in a minute if I dodn't have to fly across the country. Oh that is great that you took her in to see Dr b. DO NOT WORRY!!!! You did the right thing.
Amoxicillin
My brother used to get tons of back-to-back ear infections when he was young. He was always on antibiotics. I think the herbs are much safer and will probably take care of the problem.

Junie, you made a wise decision. As much as I believe in the program, I was taken by surprise by effectiveness of Ear Formula and GML. It got me through several serious infections. I felt relieve just after a few doses. Stay in contact with Dr B and let her monitor your daughter closely. You need to know soon whether it works as intended or something needs to change.
You will build confidence in what you and Dr B is doing and then it will be a smooth sail.
I wish I lived within driving distance from the office. My little one would be in such good hands. You are lucky that you are so close. You made a decision that will have a long term effect leading to healthy vibrant life for your daughter.

Your daughter is a lucky girl. GML and Ear cleared up an ear infection I had in a VERY short time. No worries about the super bug creation--the majority of people do not take their medications properly, in the first place (so in randomized control trials they actually have to select super compliers--and still people don't take the doses propery). Secondly this is only really a concern with a bacteria--and for serious bacteria like TB. Ear infections are viral--so why they give you abx in the first place is unclear to me.

yes, we live about 30 min. away from dr. b's office. we live in a one bedroom apartment in the valley and our place is getting smaller and smaller over taken by sophia's stuff....aahhh. sophia is doing ear formula and formula 48. i don't know what GML is.
researchnerd, i don't understand why doctors would prescribe amoxicillan whenever a child has an ear infection? yes, from my understanding, an ear infection is viral infection...i don't get it.

me neither. i took it so often as a child though, i became immune! thats when my mom started taking me to various naturopaths etc.
i think its partially because there is bad communication between researchers and practitioners of medicine. i mean--doctors still perform tubes ops despite there not being any evidence that it helps the problem of recurrent infections.
