This is the only post I can find on dang gui or dong quai. Anyone out there on this, or have been on this during treatment? Have an awful burning stomach. It is starting to settle between meals a llittle more since starting it, I think. Maybe I should just stop eating until the burning is gone?! Ok, joke, but would like to know if anyone had good results with this herb? I don't know at what point do you get concerned that more needs to be looked at? I went to the GI doc on Monday and he is totally against this treatment and blames all my issues on the herbs. I even went off of them last year for a month to prove to him it had nothing to do with it. He wants to do a colonoscopy this time b/c my intestines have been very tender and inflamed. I don't know Dr. B said ok to go to the ER if continues to feel like a hole is being burned through my stomach. I would prefer to avoid that at all costs. What to do, what to do?

Christina, can you please ask Dr. B about digestive enzymes? I know she doesn't love theme but there are a LOT of different ones out  out there now worth researching and people with gut problmes like us can do well on them...THe autism kids with gut problems do VERY well on them. Worth searching autism forums a little but don't get too caught up over there ;)

Mimi, I had a stressful start to my appointment on Friday and everything kind of fell apart from there and couldn't remember all my questions, and that was one of them. I am considering trying a completely puréed diet to see if can heal my stomach lining and settle my whole GI tract that is causing such pressure on my bladder. Ugh! Thanks, I have looked at some of the autism sites. I will keep on the search.

So what does the GI doctor want to do???? What is his great plan?????
Did you ask Dr. B about oxilates? Double checking that you are not eating spelt? Can you review what you are eating again?

The guy over at SCD Lifestyle TV had  horrible Ulicerative Colitis had to puree food for 6 months. He DID heal and is doing great.

Mimi, I had to switch things with still high pain and asked Dr. B about digestive enzymes and she said "digestive enzymes would be really really really bad." I take that as a hell no! What do you think! LOL. I am pretty much on a low oxalate, low fructose, low phenol, low carb diet. What does that equal a no taste, no fun diet! Dang gui is in the celery family and my stomach perhaps started to a feel maybe a little better, but caused bad headaches and sharp ripping pains in my bladder.:(
The GI doc just wants to fill me with pills start me back on anticholonergics and my asthma medications for awful rectal spasms, perhaps for the vasodilator affect. He has no great plan, he makes me want to scream, but I was hoping for food sensitivty testing or possibly an EGD just to make sure i dont have an ulcer that is getting worse or erosions in my esophagus from all the reflux, etc. I am canceling my colonoscopy, there is no point. If my top half isn't working correctly why would I think the lower part of my GI system would be working any better. I have stopped raw milk and spelt.
Currently eating protein:beef, eggs, salmon (very rarely), chicken (very rarely), grains/strach:congee (made with basmati), teff flour, potato(very rarely) veggies:cucumbers(without skin), celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and green cabbage (all steamed or sautéed), avocado and dairy: goat yogurt.
I am going to start puréed food tomorrow. That is reassuring that it helped someone to heal their gut.

Hi Mimi,
I was going to try some that an oncologist natural path (due to prior cancer history) felt would be of help to me.  While Dr. Matia was willing to work with some of the things she recommended (which, by the way, ended up horribly painful for IC) This was something that she pretty much begged me not to try.  Although I never understood the reason - I decided to not take the expensive bottle that still sits in my pantry.

Denise, you were going to try digestive enzymes? Is that what Dr. B begged you not to try? Don't you just love your pantry filled with bottles of unused stuff?! I could start an herbal store.

Thanks, yes, it sounds like not a good idea! I don't want anymore discomfort then I already have. How are you feeling?
