Hi everyone,
I've been in treatment since the end of July, and on the diet for about a month longer than that.
I've noticed I haven't lost any weight. I haven't gained any either, but it seems expected that people lose weight on this diet. It isn't my main concern (although I must admit I thought it would be one positive/motivator to stay on this crazy (list 1) diet.
I'm a relatively healthy weight (I could stand to lose 7-10 or so pounds, but nothing major). I guess my main conern is whether or not I should take the lack of weight loss as a sign that I'm doing something wrong in the diet. Is this going to keep me from getting better?
Has anyone else done this diet without losing much weight?
When your intestins are in
When your intestins are in balance your weight will be too. That being said it is a bit early for that to happen at this stage and I would express your concerns with Matia during your consult and discuss your diet to make sure your doing everything proper. I am sure if your following the ratios and the diet exact that your fine. If your really needing to loose wight it will happen in time. For me I gained and that is because my intestins are very weak. Remember this diease is very much related to the intestines being in balance and even if your pooping it doesn't mean they are restored.
weight loss
I didn't lose any weight on list one--although I've gradually lost 10 lbs over the course of this year (I've been in treatment 13 months). I'm on list 3 now.
Hey Pink Lady~I've been in
Hey Pink Lady~I've been in treatment for over 1 year and haven't lost any weight. I'm still on list 1 and also thought it was normal to lose some pounds. For me, I think it's mainly because of constipation. I guess once the body is in proper balance it will let go of what it doesn't need. I don't think you're doing anything wrong unless you're eating too many carbs...
weight loss
I too thought I was doing something wrong because I wasn't losing weight either. When I first got sick last year I dropped 10 pounds in less than a month because i was SO sick and didn't know what was wrong. I could hardly eat and didn't know what to eat! But once I started with Matia that weight actually came back. I was following the diet strictly and was confused since everyone else seemed to be dropping soo much weight. I am now 5 1/2 months into treatment and my current weight is about 4 pounds less than what I was for years before being sick. So I think in time your body will find the right weight it's supposed to be at, and you might experience a steady, small weight loss throughout treatment rather than losing it quickly. Also, I felt extremely hungry all the time at the beginning and that is just now starting to taper to something I consider normal. I thought I was eating too much but I definitely wasn't. Every once and I while I eat way too many zucchini muffins during the day, but then I think to myself, hey, come on, overdosing on sugar-free farm-fresh zucchini muffins isn't really the end of the world! I used to do that with M&M's....I'm so glad those days are over! I also find that if I'm not feeling great about my weight then working out (yoga, walking, etc.) really makes me feel better overall and the number doesn't matter so much anymore! No worries, your body will find a balance in time!-Whitney
Thanks everyone
I really appreciate everyone letting me know their experiences.
I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is CONTSTANTLY hungry. I'll hold out hope that this is temporary.
I've been fairly good on the carb/veggie/protein balance in all things except snacks. I've taken to baking zucchini as a snack and that's enjoyable, but I probably eat too many rice cakes and rice crackers. I'll have to watch myself.
Zucchini muffins sound wonderful! Is there a recipe that is safe for list one, or do I need to be waiting for that?
Thanks again everyone,
Erin

I used to beat myself up about it lol.To be on topic, I lost a lot of weight at first, went down to 48kg (from 54 kg) I was hungry all the time and ate like a football player. Now I still eat a full plate (or two!) but my weight went up to 51kg. So it settled in the middle, and it feels right now.We are all different, and it doesn't always mean you are doing something wrong, it's just that your body is doing it's thing in it's own way. I think you would know inside if you are doing something wrong, like sabotaging your success at getting well.
