Let's expand IC-ok packaged foods list

Forums:

I try to eat mostly whole foods, but for times when I just can't or need easier preparation or just want a "treat," I'm happy to have approved packaged foods on hand.  Since I started writing down all the IC-ok packaged foods I've found, I figure if we all started doing the same, we could cull our finds together for everyone's benefit.  When we're done I'll compile & send to Matia for updating her diet webpage.

Remember to note any important details, i.e. can only be found online (if so which store) or note which flavor/type as oftentimes only one/some types of a given product/brand have IC-ok ingredients.  (And of course since everyone's on different food lists you must check the ingredients to see if you can have it yet plus check w/ Matia as some ingredients aren't noted on any of her lists.)

Here's a start.  All of these can be found at my Whole Foods at least, and many online too.

  • Pasta sauces: Amy's Org Pasta Sauce- Roasted Garlic, Lucini- Tomato Parmaggiano Sauce, Cucina Antica- Tomato Basil
  • Chips: Kettle Org Potato Chips- Lightly Salted, Kettle Multigrain Tortilla Chips
  • Tortillas: Food for Life brown rice tortillas
  • Pizza Crusts: Nature's Hilights Brown Rice Pizza Crust (frozen)
  • Popcorn: Whole Foods 365 Org Popcorn- no oil/salt added (boxed), Whole Foods Natural Popcorn- Plain (bag)
  • Bob's Red Mill Org Whole Grain Kamut Cereal (bag)
  • Soups: Amy's (canned): Split Pea, Lentil, Black Bean Veg, Veg Barley
  • Broths: Imagine Org Free Range Chix Broth, 365 Organic Veg Broth
  • Jams: Crofter's Org Strawberry Jam, St Dalfour Raspberry Jam
  • Beans: Westbrae Natural Org Chili Beans (canned)
  • Other: Mara Natha Almond Butter

i had a feeling that i was reacting to safflower/sunflower oil which are in a lot of potato chips, so i eat Cape Cod chips. The only ingredients are potatos, canola oil, and salt, and you can usually find them at any average grocery store (oddly enough they don't carry them at whole foods).

They have a red potatoe chip that only has potatoes, olive oil, and sea salt in them.  They are really good.

Just went to Big lots (12-21-09) and they had Solea Olive oil potatoe chips with rosemary.  A 14 oz bag was $5.  I got 4 bags.  They got the gourmet show award- outstanding new bestseller.

Whole foods has rice sticks in the oriental section.  Someone told me about them at Trader Joes, but they do not carry them any longer by me.  Whole foods has them though.  Rice and water are the only ingrediants.

Newmans Own has a pasta sauce with no sugar in it.  Not all of them by newmans own have no sugar, so you need to check the back.  One brand doesn't though and they are a much cheaper brand than the others without sugar.  You can get it at Walmart or any large chain grocer.

I am not eating it, I buy it for my family.  I just thought I would add it on here for when people are moved to list 3.  Its a much cheaper option than most sauces without sugar.

Pasta for list one and two is either rice noodles or spelt pasta. Both of these should be at most health food stores I have also found them in my organic section of my grocery store.
Tinkyada brand brown rice pasta
Vita spelt

Trader Joes no longer carries the olive Oil potetoe chips.  Also, cant find the newmans own pasta sauce w/o sugar.

try Amy's for the pasta it does use extra virgin olive oil but I am guessing this is not for you.
I have bought the good health potato chips in the past I save eating these for special times. I get mine at the health food store. You can order online but I think you have to order 12 = 30 bucks.
