Hi everyone. My 7 yr old has one tooth in and one coming in. The one in looks brownish and has a whier/yellowish spot in the center. Now the new one coming in looks the same I think. I am so worried about my kids in general since I became ill with IC. Now I am worried he has issues. Anyone know anything about this?

My daughter has the same problem.  The dentist said they were decalcified.  The teeth didn't develop correctly in utero.  There may be link between decalcified teeth and antibiotics taken by the mother.  Another theory is that the mother may have had a high fever while pregant and the teeth formed improperly.  My dentist is optimistic that the there will be a better way to improve the appearance of the teeth in the next several years.

thanks. I am so worried that it means he has a leaky gut or celiac or something. I am freaking out. I never used to be like this

There is no reason to worry, this means that there was a problem in the formation of the enamel, maybe not enough fluoride. I am a Tucson dentist and the only thing to worry about is that his enamel will be more likely to develop cavities so a strict oral hygiene is necessary .

Did your child have jaundice as a baby - and if so, was s/he under a sunlamp at all? My second teeth came through discoloured, and apparently that was the reason - I was under a sunlamp for the first 10 days of my life, as jaundice was so bad. I eventually had them corrected in my teens at a dental hospital - they were treated with a mix of acid and pumice stone (yes really!). They're fine now.
