Someone said something to me about this before but I was not under the impression that it applied to organic almonds. Today someone gave me this infor again and I am trying to find out more information. It is so disturbing really. In any case, the first article is the problem, the second one is the one that suggests that it does not apply to organic almonds. As I delve more deeply I will post more.

Holy moly!  Haha the poison never ends.  How sad.  I have felt that I never feel well after eating raw almonds - face tinglies & nauseous.  Wonder if it is less from the almond itself and possibly more from the chemicals on non-organic! yikes! Thanks for the info!

I had read this before, so disturbing! It's like the movie "Bought" you just posted. I swear the government and large co operations are in this together to only make us so sick to drive in more money! We are a social experiment. Bunch of deceitful thieves! Raw almonds are so hard to digest, so is the thought now to wait until can tolerate organic raw almonds before introducing them? When I have tried almonds in the past always went for the dry roasted because they didn't seem to cause as many problems, but now seems useless if no nutrients are left.

I love almonds and almond butter! After reading the article , I am unsure of which brand to trust. Is there one someone recommends which you have done research on? Thanks, Katie

Yes - this is true. Almonds produced/sold in the US must be pasturized before sale, which means that at a minimum they are steam pasturized. The way to get truly "raw" almonds is to buy those imported from Italy, where they do not have the same pasturization law. You will notice a huge difference. They are softer, and the skin has a different feeling.

Here is a site that explains how you can still purchase true organic almonds from farmers in CA, but must ask if they are exempt to be sure they haven't been heated or gassed. If living outside of CA only option is to purchase from other countries for true raw almonds. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=dailytip&dbid=324

Thanks Christina and NAtasha. I will look these up. I did glance at NAtasha's link becuase it worked for me and I do see the brand that I ironically buy Maranatha-so I am guessin git is a good one. Funny enough, I emailed that compnay earlier today.

the really funny thing is, I couldnt understand (if in fact the maranatha is a good one) why I felt so good eating that and after eating organics 365 almonds-not so much. I could really identify a distinct difference in my body's reaction.

In Santa Monica the co-op on 16th and Broadway sells true organic raw almonds grown locally, be sure to look for unpasteurized not just organic when shopping for almonds.
