Anti-Aging

Facebook iconTwitter iconGoogle icon

There are many remedies on the market these days as well as philosophies on anti-aging. This interesting article sites very simple dietary changes that can change the way you age. Hmmm, very interesting, they are identical to the ones bomamed and ICAMA recommend, and also, according to this article, Dr. Mercola.

As for supplements, how one anti-aging regime will effect one person will be very different from another, so these things are best to discuss with a professional and allow yourself to be guided by professional expertise. Supplements and combinations of supplements can really backfire on you when taken without knowledge and understanding of them and the human body.

However, the dietary changes listed in this article are very healthy recommendations accross the board and so interesting to read the scientific data on them. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/12/06/cutting-ca...

Matia, what about kids' diet? Would you recommend 1/3 (or less??) of all their calories to come from carbs, they way you recommend for us?
Thank you!

need more carbs than we do, I believe bc they are burning off constantly with endless activity. Unless you have the kind of kid that is more docile, then I would allow my child to eat a little more carb than we would as adults. However, where that usually shows up is in snacks. I would still keep meals in the 1/3 ratio pattern, but allow at snack time for it to not always be perfectly balanced bc they will burn off what they eat for one and, secondly bc as your child gets older you realize how important it is to be a bit less rigid so that they do not start to develop eating disorders,

Matia-
I often concern myself over the starch/carbs in our diet and tend to think less is better (mostly because of conventional thinking that carbs/starch are bad). I know you advise 1/3 of our meal to be starch/carbs (for me anyway), but often time, I will snack on starch/carbs- say rice cakes during the day, which you said was fine for me- and so I will try to eat a little less in my meal to make up for it. Is there any reason we should be eating the carbs/starch with the meals- for example- are we metabolizing it a certain way with the protein/vegetable? How important is it to be getting 1/3 starch/carbs in our diet- or are you doing that because it is usually the stuff people really want to eat?

Thanks!
