A Different Way Of Viewing Illness

Facebook iconTwitter iconGoogle icon

Repeatedly, I often say that becoming ill can be a gift if one chooses to look at the situation from another point of view. It is an invitation to look at the path a person's life has taken up until the point that illness set it and see what events or circumstances led up to the illness. Changing one's life and or practices can change the course that that person was previously set upon. If one takes illness as a way of making positive change, everything can change-for the better-emotionally and physically. And, not only will your life change, but, the life of your family as well will be effected by the changes in diet and lifestyle and general outlook.

This article was just sent to me by a patient and he very eloquently points out these points in a more clinical way. But, I have said all of this before and agree with it completely. Please read it, I think it is very well-put and provokes a lot of wonderful, positive thought.

Matia. It was good to read this, esp after having an ankle sprain. I am not sure if I understood the article correctly though. Shall we understand WHY we are having pain rather than trying to get rid of it quickly? I wonder how we really understand that we recover from the pain mentally, physically and emotionally truly if it gets deeper and deeper? I suppose it is until awakening? I started to think that, if I start awakening, it even gets deeper and I end up having some other pain and sth is on my way most of the time. Does it mean, our bodies are not ready for full recovery yet?
Also, is there a way to understand which part of body is corresponding to what emotionally and spiritually? I am not sure if this is the place to ask it , but it would be great to learn what you think about that? Thanks

There is a lot about corresponding organ/meridian issues with emotions on orientalmedicine.com. There are many books on the subject. The Web That Has No Weaver, Between Heaven And Earth and many more, although, in reality the imbalances occurring in the body are far more complex than indicated in any text book. It is nice to read these texts to understand the basics. This article I posted is to impart that yes, looking at the issues that led to illness is really important, as important as trying to get yourself well. Because while illness may have been for simple reasons such as taking certain medications or eating certain foods, but, also involved may be deeper issues that should also be worked on at the same time. But, I think the bigger message in this article and that I always try to express, is that getting a chronic illness often is like an exploding point, where your body just cant take anymore and it is the body's way of saying "enough" and this gives you the opportunity to change courses and take different care of it. These changes may impact the rest of your life and change the way in which your body functions and feels-both physically and emotionally. So, this is what I mean when I say sometimes getting sick can be a blessing because you are often able to then divert destinations.

I have read The Web Has No Weaver, which enlightened me a lot, and Between Heaven And Earth is on my shelf, I haven't started though. I was asking a source describing shortly but it might be even harder as it is very complicated like you said. Thanks though.
While I totally understand what you mean by blessing and I definitely agree with that (this protocol is one of the best thing happening to me), my point was a bit about on the way to healing. I say, OK I got it and I am doing everything fine, then suddenly  things keep getting deeper, and sometimes even worse. This feeling makes me feel stuck and makes me blind that I don't see the beauty of it. I keep questioning where I am making a mistake, and guilt, etc...May be all the puzzle stones are not at the right place yet, I don't know. It is all very confusing sometimes.
Thank you again for the post. Loves
