Flouride

Anyone who has worked with me knows that much of what my work is based on has to do with the various types of chemicals, foods, and medicines that our bodies are coming into contact with. Some of this we have a lot of control over, while other things we have very little control over or may be completely unaware of. Flouride is an example of that. This is very interesting information about this subject and one reason why there is a difference between filtered tap water and bottled spring water. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/11/12/jeff-green...

For the past year, many members of my community worked hard to educate the public about fluoride and last week we voted on whether or not to remove fluoride from our town water supply.  Unfortunately, the measure didn't pass, so we're keeping the fluoride.  It was a very contentious issue.  The entire medical community (both dentists and doctors) came out in support of keeping fluoride in the water.  We were wondering if they had some incentive to side this way, even when there is so much evidence about the ill effects of ingesting fluoride.
It seems to me that another side the the fluoride issue is about choice- for the most part we as a nation are not mass-medicated, yet when fluoride is in the water supply, the choice of having fluoride free water is taken from us.  It would seem that providing fluoride to those who desire it would be a very feasable alternative.
