Gut Microbiome

This just in from a patient this am. What an amazing article about the ecosystem inside of us. I know we have posted on this subject in a seemingly redundant manner, but, there is never enough said about it as there are endless points to hit on.

This was says something that we have said countless times and one, in a way, that Chinese medicine speaks of-the mid efects the body, but, the body in turn also may effect the mind. What CM didn't speak of is neccessarily the microbiome effecting this, but, essentially it is the same thing, isn't it? It is the balance and condition of the Gut.

Of course, this researcher is speaking of this from a WM point of view, and that is wonderful, but, when we read such things, we are thinking of it in terms of CM and the balance we can bring to the picture to allow the body to recalibrate itself.

Anyway, as with all articles, ones should take it in it's entirety rather than microfocusing on every point. This is really amazing stuff and as we say will be and is quickly becoming the future of medicine and health: http://www.theguardian.com/science/2014/feb/11/gut-biology-health-bacter...

Dr M: I found this the best article  I've read on the subject. It is wonderful to have some understanding of Chinese Medicine while reading the latest Western Medicine research results. There is such a difference between them on our IC search for help  Sometimes i feel privileged to be on the cusp of this.... in terms of exciting things to come in all medicine. when all will be considered and work together..like attempting to balance the  benefits of the very diversity in our guts, referred to in the article ...
Have wondered about the injections .... and am aware of some seekers considering the procedure...
Thank you for sharing this...

I have had people do fecal transfers of different kinds. So far in the case of IC, I have not found any improvement, although for a minute I thought I did and was recommending a few people try.
However, I think this is an example of how WM does view things in such a black and white and CM is much less linear.
The microbiome may be influenced in so many ways and CM is one kind of alternative medicine that faciliates the balance to allow for change. In my humble opinion, it is about getting the body to create that change more than it is about injecting other people's microbial samples into another human being-although I can see that there may be cases where that is applicable. The other issues is that the microbes are offered transferred to places they should not be in-this is largely what causes huge problems with inflammation.
And I do agree, it is so exciting to be on the edge of all of this.

Your experience with this and the ongoing information is "gold" Dr M.
also found the references in the article,  to the aging microbiome, "food" for thought...Wow! This could be even more groundbreaking...and so it goes...

This is a great article! It is amazing after having my stool tested to see what I'm made of, and wow, there is still quite the mess going on! It is so fascinating to read the analysis and gain an understanding of the importance of having good balance of bacteria. I just can't get enough of what is going on and all the new research being done on the subject. It seems crazy to have no trace of the good guys after so much work, but I think from what I have gathered my gut was in pretty dire shape when I arrived to the Bomamed office almost 3.5 years ago. I was definitely in the dark about the gut microbiome and it's impact on my health, maybe just as clueless as my GI Dr. seemed to be as I came out of my scope and explained my situation to my mother. She simply asked if it was normal to see what he saw, and said very abruptly, very rare actually, no other explanation, just turned his back and walked away. His solution was prescribing meds and a good old, see you in 6 months! A blessing for me, I had a loving cousin looking out for me and knew just who could help! CM being lightyears ahead of understanding the importance of gut health, I am not joking when I say if I hadn't found you, Dr. M, my organs would have failed as the yeast continued to grow out of control! I have read tons and tons and actually have since found a very supportive and loving Western Dr that is all about me trying the fectal microbiota transplant, and still willing to try, but like you say Dr. M, I'm not sure the results have been long standing for many individuals, and not just in the case of IC. There is still so much to learn! Thank you for sharing this article and saving my life! :)
