Occular Migraines, Migraines, Headaches and IC

The subject of headaches, migraines, and occular migraines (and muscle and joint pains) came up a lot today in my conversations with people. This was tied in to the differences people are discerning between the relationship between their diets and health and incidence of these kinds of problems. This is really a much larger issue than I will problably be able to fully explore within the context of this short blog. However, I often use the analogy that certain symptoms are just a different branch off of the same tree trunk. As in same etiology different symptom.

This is definitely true for the symptoms I mentioned above as it is true for a host of other symptoms as well. But, I am focusing on these symptoms to make a point. An important one. The inbalance in the gut ecology can change everything about the way your body feels in all of it's extended parts as well as how you feel energetically and emotionally. Migraines can be a tough one because it is incredibly difficult to get through one without pain killers. The problem with this is more complicated by the fact that pain killers only increase the underlying cause behind them happening in the first place-so a viscious cycle is then created and perpetuated. They increase gut permeability and leakage into the lymphatic system. This is an important topic of discussion in my dissertation in throughout my dissertation but more deeply focused in Chapter #3-an expert included here:

"causing LGS (Galland, 2006; Miller, 2006), and increase of Gastrointestinal Candida from

drugs that cause Candida, such as Candida leading to MT (Birdsall, 1997; Berg et al.,

1993). Galland (2006) includes the following causes for gastrointestinal hyperpermeabilty:

viral, bacterial and protozoan agents, ethanol, NSAIDS, anti-inflammatory drugs, cytotoxic drugs, hypoxia of the bowel, elevated levels of reactive oxygen metabolites

(biliary, food-borne or produced by inflammatory cells). Rona (2006) includes most of the preceding information and adds to the list prescription hormones, diets that include refined carbohydrates, and chemicals in processed foods. Saputo (2006) also implicates hormone prescriptions among the medications capable of adversely affecting gastrointestinal balance. "

When the bladder is slowly getting better, so will all of these other things-especially as one can reduce the medications that are being taken to control them. But, remember that diet is a major factor in assuring that this works. Also remember that replacing your missing sugar with excess carbohydrates which turn into sugar when you eat more than you can burn off is also unhealthy and will feed the inflammatory process. So, don't let your body trick you into feeding the condition.

Your gut is the central point from which all of your other body systems are effected. One tree trunk-different branches. So when you think of your migraine, your ear issues, your eye issues, your poor skin, your fibromyalgia, your dizziness, your inability to focus or remember things-the list goes on-these are different extentions of your IC-of your imbalance. And these two should lessen as your continue down the path of wellness.
