People Ask Me How I Have The Patience To Treat IC

Because it is so difficult and it takes so much time to make a difference.

One of my patients sent me this today-what a great story. It reminds me of what drives me
to do what I do.

An old man, wise in the ways of the world, and a young boy, full of youthful optimism, walked together on the beach every day.

One day after a terrible storm, the old man and a boy came accros a terrible sight. The fierce winds and high waves had grounded thousands of starfish. The sun was taking its toll.

The old man stood frozen. Tears came to his eyes. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed movement, and turning. It was his young companion. The boy was walking to the water's edge and throwing them in.

The old man walked over to his young friend. "Son", he said, "there are too many. It's no use. It won't make any difference!"

The young boy picked up another starfish, looked at the old man and walked to the water. As he threw the starfish in he said to the old man, "IT makes a difference to this one!"

Thank you for sending me this. It reminds me how each one of us can make a big difference by touching one living being and how important the energy of our own spirits is.

You are the purest form of patience and grace.  Thank you for being my example.
We can beat these overgrown beasts residing inside us.... thanks to your patience!

Matia - There are no words for the  abundance of gratitude I have for you.  You have given my children their mom back.  I am one of the starfish you threw back in the water...
