Sometimes The Obvious Hits You On The Head

...in the funniest moments. My 4 year old brought me some books to read her at bed time. She can't read, so she has no idea what books she brought be. But, she saw a picture of a little child on the front and thought,..."hmm good book". So I looked and laughed because it is a book on childhood vaccines that I often recommend to patients if they want to know more about the topic. It is by a doctor (MD) Dr. Feder, who is really lovely and I really am on the same page of many of her general philosophies on this subject.

Anyway, when I skimmed though it, I landed on a page that spoke about certain vaccines causing type 1 diabetes. I kind of deep breathed for a moment because somehow, I never connected that one. I always was like Pavlov's dog...diabetes type 1-pancreas cannot make insulin-no doubt-one cause-no cure. Although I have met one person who cured himself of the condition. But, this was my general thinking.

Recently, a little child has come into my daughter's life who is type 1 and I was speaking to his father and he was recounting the cicumstances surrounding the diabetes and that it was like a sudden onset and his sugar was in the double hundreds when he was hospitalized. It was miraculous the child was not in a coma.

Anyway, whne I read this the other night, I though, hmmm I wonder if the vaccines he was given caused the diabetes. And, still kind of not believing that it could happen that way. But, with all that I know and have witnessed through these years, when I stop and think on it--yes, of course it could.

Today a ptient just sent me an article that speaks about gut imbalance and it being one potential cuase of diabetes 2, but, yes, also type 1!

My basic philosophy is that we are deisnged to eat, digest, assimilate, and excrete. IF something goes wrong with that process health fails in one or numerous ways. In Chinese medicine, the masters are all in separate schools of thought of origin of disease. I am, i suppose of the digestive school, loosley translated.

I am sharing this story with you to illustrate that no matter how open we may be, we tend to go back to what we think we know. But, sometimes there are different aspects to what we think we know. There are many shades of grey and it isn't all black and white. And sometimes it is bright pink-standing in the room like an elephant and you miss it until it steps on you.

I ope you enjoed this story to some dgree, and if not, at least read this article, it is short and succinct and I think it is very relevant to IC as a part of one of many gut related disorders: http://www.naturalnews.com/035458_gut_health_diabetes_chronic_disease.ht...

Thank you so much for sharing, my younger brother has type 1 diabetes, and I emailed him what you wrote and the link.... Everything you share with us really helps me and my family. I have 7 brothers, and 4 sisters. At least half of us if not more have gut problems. So all these articles, and things you post really do help.
