Very Interesting Article On Cancer

And, while this is not a cancer site, and while I am not any kind of cancer specialist, cancer does emanate from imbalance in the body.

Cancer has been linked genetics, and I wish I could count the number of times we have said here at ICAMA that it has so much more to do with diet, emotions, environment-epigenetics, but, I have lost count. I tirelessly say things that often get shot down by people debating the scientific data that offers a contrary opinion. However, I always stand by my thoughts, and finally this one has some scientific data to support it.

This is a really long article, but read it, it is facinating. But, in the end, it does support our thoughts on this subject, and guess what--diet matters!

My own mother died from cancer, and was fighting the fight up until she decided to listen to other people close to her that told her what she wanted to hear-that drinking alcohol and eating sugar is just fine. When I begged and pleaded with her to listen to my advice and not take part in those kinds of habits, she dismissed me. And from that point on, it was a very swift down hill turn. Not to mention the increase in her chemotherapeutic drugs. Sorry, this is a lot more open that I usually am on line, but, this research is really interesting to me on a very personal as well as professional level. Read it read it read it!

Wow, fantastic article! Cancer is definitely multifactoral. My dad's cancer was complicated from previous radiation treatments altering his genetic make-up. I can't be upset for where cancer treatment was in the 70's or I wouldn't be here and gave my dad another 25 years to live.  But, scary to read that not much has changed since the 1950's. Like your mom my dad was very optimistic, put his game face on and ready to win the battle again. He went through 3-4 bone marrow transplants in a matter of 9 months. Each time being knocked further and further down and the sores were so bad in his mouth that the Dr.'s were encouraging him to eat anything. In the end he was eating only Ensure, ice cream and mandarin oranges. Perfect sugar, sugar and more sugar! Just today I was working with a patient and on her bedside table was a can of Ensure, to my curiosity I picked up the can and what are the 2nd and 3rd ingredients listed, sugar and corn syrup! I remember that sweet malted smell on my dad's breath, yuck! The knowledge that has been apparent from Warburg's research for nearly 80 years, and still the most overlooked aspect of this disease. “Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by the fermentation of sugar.” How infuriating! Breaks my heart more than anything!

Thanks for sharing, too many are affected by cancer and more need to be informed about how much diet can provide if nothing more than a fighting chance!

Hi, I read the article. I support some things it discuss, like the suggar thing, but I don't think cancer is cause only by bad habits and genetics. I think the cause is a lot more complicated, and it is added one thing that they don't talk abaut in the article : the presence of some kind of virus. The recent studies about cancer (specyally hemetologic cancer, like lymphoma or leucemia and in breast cancer) have reveld that one virus may be involved in it. They don't know why exacly that virus affect one people ( some of theme with very healthy habits) and not the other ones. For now it's a mistery, but I think is in this when researchers have to look out, and where sugar and genetic factors are involved.
On the other hand, it is NOT true that the ratio of cancer daead is the same that in 1950!!!. Cancer deads have decreassed dramatically since 1999 with the new chemotherapy, radiotherapy and pills. This year, I saw  in my hospital, only one death, and I have known at least, 50 cancer patients If not more ( some of theme where in very difficult situations , but are alive, and they not only have lymphoma they have breast, colon, plunge, melanoma...).
In 97 my grandmother died of plunge cancer, the treatments where so rudimentary. Now they could have made her live at least 5 more years. And in some kind of cancer 5 more years is a lot of time, a success. So imagine the difference from now to 1950, in the 60's people die from Hodking Lymphoma, now the suvivor ratings are in 90%,and from this 90% the 85% are cured. So the thing have changed a lot.

Hey Nur! Great news on the success rates you have seen, this is awesome! I have a part of me that believes that pharmaceutical companies don't want researchers to find a cure for cancer. How bad is this for me to think, awful, I know, but just think of all the money these pharmaceutical companies would lose. I don't totally agree that new found expensive treatments and technology would necessarily allow certain people to live any longer then they did in previous years. Treatment used on my dad in the 1970's for one type of cancer gave him another 25 years to live and in turn most likely led to his 2nd cancer. And treatment in the 2000's for another type of cancer did not work even though he had an exact match donor, his sister, for his stem cell transplants. Change in diet definitely makes sense with starving what is feeding these mutating cells. Not once was diet the forefront of a Dr.'s treatment plan with my dad's cancer nor anyone else for that matter I know that has had cancer. Diet definitely needs to be addressed. Also, why in some countries is it known and readily used to treat cancer with high levels of IV vitamin C, with good results, but not allowed in the US? I am absolutely convinced they don't want to find a cure for cancer, or at least there seems to be no urgency on this matter! My opinion of course!

Hi Pernalink!!
I don't know if the pharmaceutical industry are interested on finding a cure, but I know that at least, in Spain and in USA there is a lot of reasearching and a lot of new treatments for it. I try to not question this things because it stresses me. The problem with finding a cure ( in my perspective) is that, like happens withe IC,  in reality what we call "cancer" are a lot of different illneses with different causes, that creates the same sympthoms= tumours. But no one really knows the cause of cancer. For exemple Hodking, leucemia can be cause by virus, but melanoma can be caused for sensibilty to radiation , for exempel.
I think the new  immunotherapy treatments can be the cure of cancer, or at least can be better treatment option for the patients  than chemotherapy what it's a living hell even now. They have to find a treatment that isn't worst than the illness itself.
For now, I have to say that they cure some cancers, people cured of cancer that I know (they consider you "cured" when you live 5 years without any sympthom) are mostly Hodking, some non-Hodking, sarcoma, breast ( lot), colon and lunge, tyroid.  People that I know that are alive but with "cronic" cancer  have ( living with it to 1-5 years) melanoma, leucemia, Hodking ( complicated case).
If I had known your father I would have considered him cured of his first cancer ( he lived 25 years without it wowww!! he was a remarkable man for sure!!). You have to be happy that you where gived to be with him 25 more years than when destiny write for hime.
Lots of kisses!!!

Another thing, in Spain cancer treatments (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, tests like PET...) are "free" for patients, the best hospitals for it are the public ones. Most people have private assurance too, for the little things (mostly for the high waitings ratings for "generalists" doctors)  but for complicated illnesses they went to public hospitals. I considered myself very fortunate for it because, some friends that I have in South America don't have the money to affroad the treatments, and it breaks my hearth. How is this in US, I have listen some things in the news about Obama and that he wants to reform it ??

Oh yes, I think you are correct that there are many ways to arrive to any disease, and why it makes it complicated for treatment. What works for one person obviously isn't going to work for everyone in the same way. Gosh, I wish it were that simple!
I also agree that you are considered to be "cured" from cancer after a period of time, 3-5 years, as goes with any other disease, not just cancer. Yes, I wouldn't have had the 17 years with my dad if he weren't "cured" from his 1st cancer. My dad was very aware that cancer was always a possibility of returning because of his radiation treatments. Just sad that to be "cured" from one cancer you have to worry about another looming in your future. Why I think it is so important to figure out what is causing this imbalance in the body and address and not wait and see what could be. Be proactive, reduce the odds by a large percentage, it's at least hope! My dad's cancer has sure changed my perspective on life. Life is way too short! I know you have been through so much yourself and glad you are doing what you can to restore your health while going through treatment! Keep up the fight and all your positivity! Praying for you!
As far as cost of treatment in the US, in Western Medicine world, if you don't have insurance you might as well kiss your butt goodbye or win the lottery! :/ It is very expensive for treatment, diagnostic testing, surgeries, hospital stays, etc. Obama is trying to make insurance more affordable, for those who have never been able to afford insurance before, but there are still many unknowns about what this all means, how it will work, and scaring many healthcare organizations about what is to come, as far as funding goes, and institutions are closing or laying off many of their employees across the US because of all the new changes. We will have to wait and see what the future has in store for us.
