Water July 30 2015

I have posted an endless number of posts on water. I try hard to not be redundant. This post in interesting because over the years I have repeated the importance of bottled water (as much as I am not for it environmentally (although glass is great for both you and the environment).  Many over the years ask me-I have well water-so I can drink that right? Well, I always say, no, I dont think so. I dont think it is a good idea. I have many pieces of information about water-but the one piece that is for sure is that bottled over tpa or well is 100% critical to getting well.

Furthermore-the kind of bottle can make a huge difference too! This is why I did a post back a bit gathering the information on that so that patients from around the globe could share what they are drinking to save newcomer time and help those who may not be doing as well. One of may current patients opted to stick wtih well water for quite a long clip-only to come around to thebrutal realization that in fact bottled water is the make or break difference in her bladder health. We have been around the block and back many times over with this and we are both now quite sure.

Neither of us wanted that to be the case, but, it is undeniable. Now, having said that it certainly does not mean you cannot ever drink other water in your life. After you are well and balanced mixing it up a bit is fine. But, in general bottled water should be your main intake until I/we/it can determine a safe alternative. I just do not as of now know the answer to that question.

But, as for getting better-it is so important to drink a healthy bottled water. And, I do recommend glass because it is better for you and the environment. When you think about the money-theink about the money you would be spending on soda and juice and all of the other things you would be eating and drinking that you are not now. Spending money on replenishing the very thing that your body is primarily comprised of is worth the extra cost and is not much extra when you have excluded all of the junk!

I know water is very important - because I am the patient who for 5 years used my own well water . We have a private well and live in a rural province in Canada - had the well tested many times and it seems to be great water ! But I could never get my bladder to be consistently happy - now for almost a year when I drink Poland springs water my bladder is happy . Getting this water requires work as we live in Canada & Poland is from US. 6 hours from here & border issues . I'm going to see about shipping costs but likely lots of $. Anyhow i have some great friends who know if anyone is going to U.S. Bring me back water . Good lesson learned...

If anyone wants to share their experiences with their water-please do so! We would love to hear here.

Thanks Dr. Brizman for this interesting post.  What does this mean for drinking tea or coffee that is made without bottled water?  I occasionally will make tea at home with bottled water and I'm wondering if there will be a time when I can order it while out and about.

Any other FIJI drinkers out there?  I drink Fiji water which is sold in a lot of places which makes it very convenient.  I settled on this water early on in treatment when I was in constant pain.  18 months in, I have had days (up to a week) without pain so I think this water is fine but after this post I am wondering if I should re-evalluate. How did you all determine which water to drink?  Jeannie, when you stopped drinking well water, did your symptoms improve immediately?  I live in Canada also, (it does seem weird that our water is dubbed as some of the best in the world and yet we can't drink it!) have you tried Castle Rock?  It comes in glass bottles.

EJH my bladder went through a painful time last summer seemed like it started its urgency & burning mid morning and went from there - right when I had started drinking my water a few hours before . I really could not before this connect maybe my water was bothering my bladder . I am low grade usually discomfort 4 or 5 . But last summer worse . So tried spring water - Canadian springs first & then a PC brand - bladder improved but it seems to like Poland the best ! ( I have run out & went to Canadian springs ). I improved in treatment over time but last couple of years my low grade bladder symptoms seemed to stay . It would take 2-3 weeks to see improvement when I switched to spring water . But it seems lots of people use a different kind of spring water & do fine maybe my body just likes Poland. Castle I should check as Poland is hard for me to get . It's hard for me to get Fuji although I have used when travelling .where is castle from?

I thought it just had to be spring water, so when I recently found out about a free natural spring a few towns over, I started bringing my own empty containers and filling up there! I had several perfectly NORMAL bladder days afterward, so it seems okay...? But, Dr. Brizman, please comment if you believe this is not a good idea! I certainly don't want to delay my healing!

Gosh-it sounds lovely! If you feel well on it, I think then it may be just fine? I would watch closely and see and dont forget to tell Boaz about it!

About two years into treatment (today is my 4 year anniversary) I began having Mountain Valley spring water delivered to my house in glass bottles. It has made all the difference in my treatment. When I am away from it, I actually crave it! Crazy! There are many aspects of water to be concerned about- not only ph and minerals, but issues such as glyphosate or heavy metal levels. Mountain Valley tests and reports on these aspects. I also bought glass to go containers for my family and I to take with us to school and work. If we are out at a restaurant I will drink the coffee ( I am on list five) but at home, I tend to be puritanical about my water. When I am not, my body lets me know.  Great post- as always!

I've been drinking Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water for years. I have it delivered, but they do not have glass bottles. Their bottles are para free however. Is that a problem? Should I change companies?

Arrowhead has been a very dependable water over the years. It is FINE! The big reason I recommend upping the level to Mountain Valley is that glass is so great for the environment. I feel awful recommening plastic bottles because of the impact of plastic on our environment. Don't worry, you are fine.
