My daughter has congenital hypothyroidism. I really really want to treat the cause of this, instead of giving her a drug that covers the symptoms. They just keep upping her dose, and it has always been so confusing to me. Even though her numbers show she is not in the normal range since birth, she has never ever shown any outward signs of having this, and it has puzzled even the specialist at Childrens that she sees.
I am just wondering if anyone has some advice for me. It is weighing on me that this might impact her someday, and maybe not cause but add to the risk of her getting something like IC someday when she is older.
i am looking for a Naturopathic who does Endocrinology... I wish I could have brought my daughter to see Matia too. I am just now realizing what a big deal it is that my daughter is going to be taking a drug every day for the rest of her life, unless I can figure out what to do...
IF it were me I would start
IF it were me I would start her on probiotics right away. I don't have any advise about what dr to use and the thyroid issues. I know Matia does deal with this as I think it's pretty common amongst ICers. Maybe when you talk to her she can point you in the right direction. I have a friend who is planning to get pregant and takes thyroid meds she needs to go off them I was about to dive into some research for her I will let you know if I find anything on the matter.
I would just ask Matia next
I would just ask Matia next time you talk to her. She will be able to tell you if she can help. She would be the best person to do it! Good luck! Congrats for taking control of your daughters health!
Thanks for your repleys
I did talk to Matia about it at my first app last friday. I always didn't feel good about her having to take the drugs. But finding Matia really started me thinking about it all the time. She did say she would do some emailing around to see if she could find any dr that could help me here in Colorado. Also she said something along the lines that she wishes she could see the labs, and that maybe I could fax her them. But I don't know what to do about that all now. I would LOVE to have her opinion, and have her look at the labs. I wanted to email her today so bad and ask if she had had a chance to look around, or if she wouldn't mind looking at the labs. But, I don't want to abuse the email thing....Anyway, I have a dr in mind here. It is just so expensive! Why can't ins cover the natural dr too!!! It is so frusterating to me. I don't know how we can afford my treatment and this, but it is worth doing everything we can...: )
