Treatment for babies

Hey all,

I'm a new Grandma - she's eight months old now. Yep - I'm madly in love.  Anyway, little Leah has tumy troubles.  It probably worries me more than her Mom.  I was wondering if she's under Boaz's care, if they would have to travel to California for the initial visit?

Thanks

Hi Grandma!

I love being a grandma. :) As you know, Denise, we adopted our little girl from China when she was 11 months old. She also had tummy troubles for a whole year. I was considering bringing her to Dr. B at the time, and I believe I would have had to bring her there, but that might have changed. What helped us in bringing her tummy pains under control were pulling gluten, dairy, and soy from her diet. Then we started her on raw goat's milk which really helped to heal. After she had been on that for quite awhile we switched over to raw cow's milk. (She is still on that.) We were then able to add back in cheese, yogurt, kefir, and butter. After that we added in spelt, and she did well on that. She still cannot tolerate any soy of any form. She accidentally had something with soy a few months back, and all the tummy troubles came back. I had to pull all dairy as she couldn't tolerate any for about three weeks until it all calmed down again. Just wanted to share my story if it could be of some help to you with your little one.

Thank you for the info - I will talk to her Mommy.  Up until a few months ago she was breast fed only.  However, I know that she had problems even then - before organic solids were introduced.

I don't know if I told you before - My daughter, the babies Mommy, was adopted from Korea.

Denise- she wouldn't have to go to CA for an initial visit. Babies are resilient and they change all the time. Might be a good idea if they can afford it.
Enjoy your granddaughter!!! xoxo

My niece is adopted from China. She has had issues her whole life here. She is 10 now. It breaks my heart, my sister is unwiling to even look at this issue in any real way. My niece is so intensely allergic to so many things and has such bad excema. She has been on some type of drug since she was about 15 months old. I really have a hard time with this because I feel for her suffering so much. At Christmas, she had to go stand on the freezing porch alone ( I went out with her) because she was reacting to my other sister's dog after having eaten a piece of pie. They don't see the connections at all and I CAN'T point them out. Or they just push them under the rug because they "can't deal with it"  Not that they don't careabout her but there is no attempt to address the underlying issues- just give her more steroids, inhalers and creams. :(

I think, unless you walk in our shoes - maybe having western medicine so fail you, you just aren't open to such great options.

So true Denise- And to tell the truth, I have never had a kid with such severe issues so I haven't walked in those shoes either. it is hard to make decisions for a child who is acutely suffering. As a mom, you just want to fix it NOW.
