Lolo's Questions

Sorry it is taking me so long to get to each question. The picture is my attempt at self amusement which, I try to do each day. My daughter used to call the coyotes which are ever present in my community, lolos when she was little and everytime I see it written, this is what I think of. I love coyotes BTW:)

Anyway, here are the questions:

Dr M: I would like, if there are some general rules, to see more of your written guidance on recognizing when it it's time to adjust herbs. Once we have found a relatively comfortable state after the pains and discomforts of an adjustment change and are levelling off, is there a symptom or signs that will eventually tell us.."too comfortable; time for change"?  or do we just continue until experiencing changes?  I realize that may be a difficult task and can accept a "no"..I have learned not to rush to dentist if a toothache or check with GP re backache etc. on this amazing journey as these problems resolve themselves, but would welcome some guidelines...like number of days to persevere etc.

I also think a list of alternative herb brands (if needed) would be useful.

and emergency pain remedies and sleep aids if they exist? and if not, perhaps, some other advice?

I would like to see some info relating progress and causes of IC? former lifestyle, body management, genetics, environment...but do know this is a daunting task with our various diversities....just any thought that comes to mind on this regard...for us to be aware of on the healing process..

I am finding it difficult to offer these suggestions and it makes me realize what a balancing act you do for each of us individually.....

Thank you Dr M and Dr B ...my loving wishes for you and your family for 2015 are beyond words along with my gratitude! Happy New Year to you and my dearly loved IC sisters

Here is my attempt to answer these questions:

1-There are no set rules. As much as any paradigm of medicine calls for them, I don't think they exist exactly as medicine, Western or Alternative tends to be more of an art than a science even in the most Western forms. This system which I have developed based on CM with some Western integration is mostly based on the observation methods taught by my Chinese medicine forefathers going back thousands of years. And while there are signs and symptoms that are handed down in the books, I think that integrating those signs and symptoms in the paradigm I have developed makes them a bit different.

The reason Boaz and I spend endless hours of my our time making ourselves available to all of you is to find a way to make this system the most effective. And one day perhaps it will be something we can create a better footprint for. That is a part of what Boaz and I are trying to do by working together.

2- Giveing brands suggestions is a good idea! Something I need to do. Time is difficult because of so much on line time with emails. And, this is an area that I am hoping to improve on, But, patients in need require our priority.

3-I have done many posts on emergency suggestions but I should definitely create a page that is static so that those things may be found easier. This is more true for colds and flus and urinary tract infections. However-each of those are really individualized and pain-well there is no one answer for that. But, there are some general things that can help. I will try to create a static page for this soon!

4-As to your question regarding causes for IC etc. I feel that my dissertation really illuminates much of that. Not much has changed about what I think since I completed my dissertation other than my feelings regarding hormone replacement. For anyone who has not read it, it is a really nice source of information, I think. It may also be useful for a sleeping aid if you need one! :)

I hope this helps Lolo.

Dr M: Thank you for the care and definitive answers to my questions which I know could have been confusing. I so appreciate them and they are very helpful!  The sleep aid tip re your dissertation did not go unnoticed :)  Your daughter's Lolo/Coyote reference is sweet and maybe the Spanish "Lobo" for Wolf may be involved? My treasured grand daughter gave me the Lolo moniker at very young age and it's stuck and I smile too...

Being ever interested in all things esoteric, I looked up "coyote" in The Native Medicine  Cards (by Jamie Sams) for fun. Sure enough the Coyote is the native totem for the "Medicine Dog/Trickster"...."some kind of medicine is on its way accompanied by some humour"...hmmmmm

Please forgive this diversion...had to share...healing medicine to us all!

I find the process of submitted questions from patients with answers by your blog really helpful!

I LOVE the diversions! and I love all of that. Actually the lolo thing came from her interpretation of how they sound wen they have gathered and found their kill. We used to live deep in the mountains where we would hear them a lot when she was young. I asked her--"why lolos?" She said, "because that is how they sound momy, the go, lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo." So funny, and she is right!

Glad the post helped:)

Haha! Finding the diversions of this post quite amusing! We have fox where I grew up, but don't make any sound, the coyotes sound like our racoons when become threatened habe a very high pitched creepy almost cackling and screaming sound! They keep me company at night when I can't sleep, breaking up the silence. I will start listening for the lo lo lo lo of the coyotes! :)
