Tummy troubles

Forums:

Hi all, I ask this for my sister... her 3 and 1/2 month old is having lots of spitting up... tummy troubles. It seems to be getting worse, and last night she was up every hour or so crying. My sister is concerned she is not getting enough to eat, as she spits up so much. She has tried several different formulas (she did try to breast-fed, but ran into many tough problems :(. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions other that trying some probiotics? She took her to the doctors yesterday, and they just said they can give her a prescription for an antacid if she wanted them to.

IC, Sex, and Pregnancy

Forums:

Hi Ladies
I have some concerns, esp due to some stories I've read/heard. Have any of you passed IC on to your husband/partner, or given birth to children with IC related health issues?? I am in my mid thirties, have not had children yet, and am grappling with this. I am scard of passing it on. I am not nearly as sick as I was early in treatment but still having definite issues, thus I still feel like I have IC and could be contagious. I don't feel like I have much more time to wait on this, if I am going to have children.

Dairy and Gluten free diet

Forums:

I would appreciate anyones opinion on a dairy and Gluten free diet for a child (or adult for that matter). You see I am seeing an ND for my daughter, and saw her the first time this monday. My daughter has congenital hypothyroidism, and has had to take med for it since she was 2 weeks old. I am trying to threat the cause not the symptoms, in hopes that someday she will not have to take these drugs. She has never shown any signs of having this disease, it was just her numbers, and it has baffled even the specalist she sees at Childrens hospital.

Cold care

Forums:

Does anyone have tips on what you can use to help with a cold for your child? My 14 month old woke up with a cold, and as the day goes on she is getting worse : (
I am so scared to have to take her to the Doctors and have them push drugs if it gets bad. I know that to feed her whole foods, avoid sugar and things like that. Does anyone have any tips on things you can get at the health food stores that work?

Thanks
Kelsey

Thyroid issues...

Forums:

My daughter has congenital hypothyroidism. I really really want to treat the cause of this, instead of giving her a drug that covers the symptoms. They just keep upping her dose, and it has always been so confusing to me. Even though her numbers show she is not in the normal range since birth, she has never ever shown any outward signs of having this, and it has puzzled even the specialist at Childrens that she sees.

How do you get your kids to take probiotics

Forums:

I want to start giving my 2 year old probiotics.  He has exema and it flairs whenever he eats sugar.  I don't give him sugar, but he ends up getting it sometimes at Grandma and Grandpa's and then he is TERRIBLE the next day and has a flair.

So, does anyone know how to get them to take it?

Can you open the capsule and put it in a little bit of apple juice (no sugar added) I dont know if this will kill the good guys.

I REALLY need a good kid's toothpaste

Forums:

My kids were using Tom's strawberry flavored kids toothpaste until their teeth turned yellow (shockingly bad).  The natural kids toothpaste is a clear, gel consistency.  Do any of your kids use a toothpaste that looks normal? (white and looks like a paste)  They don't like my regular Tom's toothpaste. I am opoen to trying another flavor.  What has worked for your family?
