As I was glancing at the topics of conversation this week, I noticed commentary on the emotional section of my dissertation. I was really touched by Jeanette's response regarding parenting and bowel function. In writing the dissertation, I was so focused on the explanation, it never really occurred to me that it might change the parenting of my adult patients thereby changing the course of thier children's lives. What are great thing! Education encompassing so many aspects of our lives and our health is fundamental to not only the treatment, but the prevention of this condition.

Sometimes I feel like I sound like a broken record. I am always talking about the importantce of immunity, and how the largest portion of our immunity is housed in our digestive tract--specifically the small intestine. My dissertation is saturated with wonderful research supporting this subject matter.

In treatment, I endeavor to explain the importance of this and to encourage the understanding that the treatment of the immune system is far more important than any speicific pathology. Here is an article from Dr. Mercol'as website:

I always recommend NOT using these products bc you do not want to expose your body to these chemicals for both pain issues and immune issues. Here is another author's take on this matter:

Just like everyone, I am trying to make the best decisions for myself and my family and trying to keep all of you educated as to the water issues for both health and for chronic health problems, like IC. I think the water issue is wrapped up in both. Here is a sad, but fascinating article:

This is a really interesting article on the subject of using diet and supplements to naturally change the way the body is operating vs. using prescription drugs to chemically alter it in a flase way.

All of you know my thoughts on sugar. Sugar consumption can cause so many kinds of imbalances in the body and, in my opinion, sugar consumption coupled with other kinds of health practices can be a huge contributor to chronic illness. Often, these are not the kinds of things that we are being told.

I keep forgetting to mention that although some people include mushrooms as a part of their ingredients on their personal recipes, I do not recommend eating them.
