This is a nice article by Dr. Mercola regarding Statin-a kind of drug that it seems many MDs agree is overly prescribed. High cholesterol is more often than not the result of chronic unwellness rather than diet. This is not something that will be discussed with you by your MD in most cases. Over the years, I have seen cholesterol levels dive in many of my patients without having to do anything other than treat the IC. This is not always true, but it is often true. As always, I do not recommend everything in this article, but rather am interested in the concepts.

Although this patient used different methods to treat his bowel imbalance, the concepts still apply. This is a very interesting article in that it parallels my mantra about time and diet and imbalance. Give it a read!

The forum was temporarily removed because a few days ago there were problems with misuse of information.

The forum was designed to promote comfort, communication, and support among Dr. Brizman's patients as this process is difficult and support is often greatly needed.

I want to clear up a concept that I think needs illumination.

Imbalance takes many forms. It can come in the form of imbalance in organisms, which, is a huge part of the focus of my treatment, but, where did that imbalance come from?

One needs to look at constitution, diet, medications that have been taken, and various lifestyle issues that may be effecting physiology as well.

In Chinese medicine, the cause of the condition is of equal importance as the condition itself.

For anyone who is familiar with my thinking, it will be easy to understand why I think this article is so fascinating. My ideas of health an imbalance in the human body as it relates to chronic disease has much to do with the eco system of microorgansims in our body. This particular article relates to that, but in a very interesting and new way. Read this, it is incredible: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/science/13micro.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

It has come to my understanding that there is a group of people who have decided to give other of my patients advice. This has hurt several of my patients due the advice that they have been given.

I am a very committed doctor of Chinese medicine. I have not only developed this work for IC, but have been devoting my life almost literally around the clock for 14 years (and have studied it for 20) by giving countless hours of free service of my personal time daily including vacations.

I wanted to say a few things about embarking upon a path of alternative medicine.

Alternative medicine for chronic illness requires a lot of time and effort. It is a process of addressing
imbalances in one's body and is not well addressed by taking one set of supplements for long periods of time.

A well balanced approach to a chronic illness is one that involves guidance of diet and supplements over time in an effort to change the balance inside the body thereby regressing the state of imbalance.
