Painkillers are an interesting subject. People take thiem without thinking. And, of course they do. We are trained from forever to think of them as safe. Interesting how we become conditioned to think that because if you look at the label on the back the warnings are frightening.

It fascinates me how people are more willing to take them when they clearly state on the back that they can cause terrible things like liver damage, and more worried about taking natural substances that grow in the ground-not that you should eat everything from the ground!

I like making up recipes. Having a dessert made by me can be risky business because it is hit or miss. In the old days, I would make things and my dogs would not even eat them!. That is a true story. Knowing this, you may or may not want to follow  what's next

Anyway, I just made one that is really really nice as follows:

1 package almond meal

raw cocao powder about half as much as the almond meal

maple syrup to taste

I am terrible with recipes -so eye ball this

I just wanted to add one thing, which, I said, but, not clearly enough. Although Chinese medicine has been my-everything, has given me back the quality of life and ability to thrive, if not for Western medicine, I would not be alive. For that I am eternally grateful.

First, thank you for the amazing repsonses to my blog below, those and a few private emails were quite overwhelming for me to read. And, perhaps I am getting sappy as I age, but, many brought tears to my eyes, so thank you! More than anything, although I do need to make a living to feed my kids like everyone else, this work is for.... that-the knowledge that I made a positive change in someone else's life. So, this brings me to a very relevant next post. One I have thought many times to do and never have because I have felt it was not something I needed to do to validate my work.

Someone asked me yesterday if going through menopause will inevitably make IC worse. She is concerned because she is very young and doing a lot of hard work on her body and is worried that when she is feeling healthy and balanced everything will return later when she is of menopausal age. Good question. Menopause often comes with many symptoms that are very IC like-such as vaginal changes, urinary frequency, urgency or burning.

So, reaching menopause and having had IC can be confusing. It is also true for pregnancy which also may come with its own set of urinary symptoms.

I need to share something that happened because it could have ended in tragedy, and thank goodness it did not. I have always used _____ blenders, I have loved them for years. I have two little girls and I make shakes for the three of us every morning for breakfast. It was just luck, that the blade that separated from the blender last week ended up in my cup and not theirs!
