I get a lot of push back on red meat and why I suggest it. Too much saturated fat-bad ofr your heart-bad for cholesterol. I have gone into some detail on this in previous posts. But, this is a really nice article from Dr. Mercola which gives some nice concise inght on the matter. IT also includes some other foods which, I also recommend down the line of treatment. Coconut and coconut oil is the only area where caution needs to be heeded for those with IC bc it will cuase huge set backs.

Many of you whom have read my dissertation are familiar with my theories on the reactions that occur in the body consequent to poor mother child bonding. For those of you unfamiliar, I am NEVER blaming this condition on your psyche, so please don't get me wrong. However, there is a mind body connection and it is a part of everything that goes on within us.

No, not always! I repeatedly run into this topic of discussion with patients who tell me they switched their products to health food store replacements so they are safe to use.

It is really important to understand just because something is natural soe not mean it is safe. If you ingest certain plants, they can kill you for example. This is an extremem example, but, it is an importan one to make. More benign negative reactions can occur in people ingesting ingredients or putting them on their skin that are not apprpopraite to them at that point in time.

A very dear friend just sent me this poem. I really loved it. It is not about IC, but, such a lovely sentiment for each of us, which ultimately helps the spirit. And, anything that helps the spirit, helps the struggle.

I am not old

I am not old, she said
I am rare

I was a stedfast vegetarian for years. And, I have 7 animals at home and have had more or less this number over my entire life. I adore animals, and in my fantasy life would never eat one again. But, through treating people clinically, I have found that eating meat is paramount to getting well. I also had that experience myself in my own recovery from tremendous unwellness.

I have said what this article says in countless ways over the years without the scientific research to back up this position. I just got this article in from someone and had to post it immediatley! I could not agree with it more.  I have seen so much evidence to support this so far in my decade and a half of practice and I am certain when I am old and grey, I will have much more to clinically support it.

Finally some awareness is being paid to the potentially dire consequences of using chemical birth control. Unsuspecting young women subject themselves to the very harmful side effects of birth control every day because they trust the medical system to give them the best advice for their helath.

Unfortunately, this advice is not always in their best interest even if it does keep them form becoming pregnant prematurely. There are better ways of protecting yourself from pregnancy. It isn't THAT hard.

Many of us get so busy and preocupied with everything we are doing, we forget to remember we need to take are of ourselves. If we don't take care of ourselves, we can't take care of all of those other things and people that are so important to us. This is an interesting article on this subject:
